The Arcam converts to PCM and the Marantz SA-30n didn’t get a great review from Zero Fidelity.
I’d love to read a thorough review of the CD-S1000 compared to the CD-S2100.

There’s one review that compares the CD-S1000 to the Arcam to a Technics. three-way shootout. The Technics won but it’s a lot more expensive.
I wanted SACD and well built. Arcam is kinda plasticky.
The Yam suits me okay - gets me by
Years ago, I had a Oppo 105D for a few months and used it to rip all my SACDs to iso. After a few months I found I was not spinning any discs anymore so I sold the Oppo for a profit!
Edit: or maybe it was a 205?
The Oppo’s are still getting crazy money! They are great but not +$2.5k great in my opinion.
I really like my Oppo UDP-205 (bought before Oppo Digital closed doors) for hi-res . . . but don’t really dig its Redbook playback as much–but then I’m spoiled having the PS Audio DirectStream Memory Player and the DirectStream DAC.
I am using an Oppo 105 as a transport feeding a Geerfab D.BOB which converts DSD to DOP and then to my DSJr.
Hey Lonson…have you ever tinkered with the dac filters on your 205?

PST is a transport.
Yes I have. I prefer the “Corrected” filter. And I let it downmix multi-channel to stereo as I don’t do surround. And I have the speakers configured correctly.
I’ve had it a few years and have fiddled with it a lot. And I also can adjust the gain on the balanced out due with a Decware ZBIT and can adjust the EQ nicely with a Decware ZROCK2. Redbook just doesn’t impress me on this one as much as Hi-Res. Again, I’ve lived with the PerfectWave transport and DAC and then DirectStream transport and DAC for a long time and I’m spoiled with better sound from those.
That’s my understanding as well.
I have one Oppo BDP-95, I use that one mainly for my HDCD’s since my UDP-205 don’t understand what a HDCD is and as you saw, an Oppo UDP-205
The ancient Ayre C5xe. The sound is good with balanced output but what annoys me is the too small display, the user unfriendly remote and the difference in output level on red book vs. SACD. However, I don’t see the point in upgrading as CD is a secondary format for me and SACD is just a sub-category of CD. There were some upgrades that could have been applied to the player but never bothered with them.
SONY Blu-Ray via HDMI as transport to native DSD playback in the ESS DAC.
I have an Esoteric K 03x. Lately it has been more of a DAC than an SACD player but has an excellent disk transport mechanism. It replaced a Marantz SA-10. Got it used so the original owner took the haircut. It sounds good to me and at 70 lbs and located in a tight spot, I am not anxious to move/replace it.
Oppo 103 with Oppomod IS2 card. Dynamat used to damp the bottom and top of player and also on the laserdrive top.
Arcam CDS50 with Vistek isolation feet and two Herbie’s SuperSonic Stabilizers on top. Balanced connection.
You replaced an integrated amp with an SACD player?
Sorry. Brain freeze…SA-10
Although not a SACD player and therefore off-topic I guess, I did have a predecessor model: the Modwright Music Hall RAM Signature CD-25. Still regret having sold it.
