I consider myself an alt-country fan (e.g., Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, Jason Isbell, Uncle Tupelo), and I never heard of twelve of the fifteen artists who appear on this disc. I have heard of Cowboy Junkies, however, and their version of “Moonlight Mile” is worth a listen IMO (I am not suggesting the other tracks are not worthy – I have not listened to them, yet).
The Giant Sand cover of Jumpin’ Jack Flash is awesome with some great play between a Standing Bass and a piano. Its time you all should get schooled.
