Which HDMI cable are you getting for your new PerfectWave SACD Transport?

I’m listening to my system now and I couldn’t be happier with the sound. Playing CD after CD from beginning to end and having a blast!

The last three upgrades, Sunshine, PST, Thunderbird 48 HDMI cable, have really paid off.
Every be aspect of the sound has improved immensely, but I’m especially appreciative of how the high frequencies have improved, which was one thing that would put me off at times. There’s a real purity and ease to horns, violins, cymbals, and other high frequency instruments that allows me to more easily suspend my disbelief, and be drawn into and lost in the music.

These cables take a little time to sound it’s best, but give us a preliminary on what you think of this Dragon 48.

Here’s a teaser :slightly_smiling_face:

At least include the cable in the photo!

Got my Firebird48 today. My previous experience with AQ was that their cables have a personality of their own, and didn’t seem compatible with my system. This cable doesn’t have that, thankfully. Initially the lows were much fuller than what I’m used to and the music had a depth I hadn’t heard before. But the highs were so shrill I had to turn the volume down. Now after about 4 hours the sound is settling in. The lows and highs have space of their own. Harshness is going away. The fullness of sound I’m hoping for is not there yet. More later.

Congrats! Mine took a few weeks to break in. The sound has turned from thin to very full now.

That’s what I’m waiting for. How many hours did you have on the cable before it started sounding full? I was tempted to let a CD play on repeat overnight, but then didn’t.

I tried the Dragon with the Matrix first, see Matrix thread.

I used a USB stick to play for three days without turning on the amps at first to break in. It probably will take a couple hundred hours to start sounding great. Mine probably has over 300 hours on it and it sure sounds better than last week.

But according to Gary_M, he has 500 hours on his Thunder48 and it is still improving.

Yes, USB stick. Good idea.

Quick question: I filled the root directory of a USB stick with files and set them to Repeat ALL on the viewer. Only the first file plays once. How did you get them all to play on repeat? Thx.

I didn’t experience this issue lately. But there’s a long thread on the USB playback on PST. It has to do with the USB size, format, and file types.

I tried WAV, then FLAC. Same issue. I finally found a FLAC file with an hour and a half duration. Just have to start it every hour and a half. Called tech support. They’re getting back to me.

Had the same issue with my PST. If I selected repeat all, only the first song played. So in order to get the USB stick to play continuously, I had to select repeat for just one song. Didn’t really matter since I wasn’t listening while the HDMI cable was burning-in, but would be nice if this bug was fixed.
