Which power supply are you guys using with your Matrix X-SPDIF 2? - 5v or 9v?

I’m using the UpTone LPS on the Matrix. The Pardo went to the ORendu.

Have you tried the Pardo on the Matrix? If so, how did it compare to the Uptone? Apologies if you’ve already answered this earlier in the thread.

No, I haven’t.

Can’t do it anyway. The LPS won’t drive the o oRendu… I need the Pardo for that.

Thanks. (sigh) I was hoping that the SGC unit would be at least close to or the equal of the UpTone since it’s pretty reasonable cost-wise and also with adjustable output.

So it goes.

PM me.

The SGC LPS is a very good LPS. It’s just not a great LPS. I like the Teddy Pardo better than the UpTone. But I like the UpTone better than the SGC. I used the SGC LPS on my ultraRendu for a over a year. The only reason I replaced it with a Teddy Pardo is because I was able to get a near new Teddy Pardo for over half off.

It was like every echo or reverb in the studio or venue was hyper alive. I felt like audio information overload at 9V. Initially I liked it but i tired of it quickly lower voltages calmed things down I will revisit it with the HDPLEX.

Seeing all the excitements on the voltage debate, I ventured out and bought this power supply for 16 bucks for my Matrix. And wow, it’s the most cost-effective upgrade that I’ve ever done. A much better instrument separation is the most prominent improvement that I’ve noticed, and the clarity of sound (in a pleasing way) is also improved. Now I wonder how much better these pricier LPS can bring to the table…

An upgrade for $16.50?

Well done!

My bet is you would greatly appreciate an LPS.

I was watching what the car subwoofer enthusiasts do to ensure their car power systems have enough surge current to handle big, long bass hits and came across this ultracap. Does anyone have thoughts on these? Are capacitors noisy?

Just wondering how long it took for it to arrive.

I ordered my Teddy Pardo power supply on the 3rd of this month. My order was confirmed and that’s as far as it went. I know they’ve received the funds but haven’t responded to the three emails I’ve sent them. So far I’m not too impressed with Teddy Pardo as a company. They may make great power supplies, but their customer service sucks.

That’s surprising to hear. I ordered a Pardo LPS for the Matrix on July 26 and it was shipped on July 30. I received it on August 2. I’m in Washington DC area.

I have one on order as well. It was ordered about 16 days ago, and should be here in PSA land on Tuesday. They didn’t ship it until earlier this week. They went DHL. I’d say their CS has been pretty good for me. I’ve tried to be gentle during these strange times. Not sure what my 9v Sbooster will power, or if it will be sold. Perhaps my fanless linux box, or in the HT for a blueray device.

It seemed to take a while for them to ship it out, but it was really just a bit more than a week, IIRC. I’d say the whole thing took 2 weeks from order to delivery.

I did have to nudge them a bit.

I ordered from Teddy Pardo on August 1st, and the item was shipped via DHL on August 13th; expected delivery is August 18, (by the information provided.) There was a one day delay for customs clearance, per the DHL tracking history.

I don’t mind that I have a wait a while for it to arrive but I think it’s inexcusable that I can’t get them to respond to my emails. I was considering cancelling the order but after reading these responses, I’ll give it a little more time.

I didn’t hear anything from them after the initial order confirmation, until the DHL shipping notice.

Interesting and encouraging at the same time.

Is teddy pardo the way to go these days?

I haven’t tried a Teddy Pardo, but Sbooster and Farad Super3.

I’m using an Sbooster with my Matrix and recently replaced the standard SPS from my EtherRegen with a Farad - with excellent results. I’m saving money to now replace the Sbooster on the Matrix (and planning to go with a Farad Super3 with 6 or 7 volts, not decided yet).
