I am giving the gear upgrade path a wee rest, instead am going to renew my AF Audio XLR Bodhi a swap. The current cables have a hefty amount of silver in them, and cost about £500 (new). What are the recommendations that give a laid back sound with good bass/separation/soundstage. Budget if I go down the 2nd hand route is about £450/500
Cardas immediately comes to mind. A relaxed presentation while retaining a sense of inner detail. I would not consider Cardas to be the most neutral, favouring a warm presentation. Cardas was rather popular in the 90’s and 00’s in CD based systems to tame the harsh digital presentation.
Cardas was recommended to me by Jeff@Conrad johnson. I have Tube amp/preamp/phono with Cardas clear and clear Beyond cables.
If I were buying now I will stop at cardas clear to get maximum benefit.
Jeff told me he uses Cardas cables for internal wiring.
I believe those Cardas may be beyond his suggested budget. Yes Cardas IME can be a great match with cj gear. I went with Nirvana cables which is also a great match, but a bit more neutral.
yes,I agree.
What motivated me to buy cardas IC and SC was relaxed and detailed presentation as you mentioned in your post.
You may contact Jeff at CJ,he was able to offer me cardas cables at dealer’s price but then I am a returning customer.
