The various login credential requirements can be frustrating, but instituted for good reasons.
I recently had trouble logging into Amazon. It was remarkably difficult getting authorized to again access my account.

why is Captcha Needed on the Forum part of this site?
CAPTCHAs play an important role in keeping the internet spam-free and making everyone’s experience a little bit better.
reCAPTCHA also makes positive use of the human effort spent in solving CAPTCHAs by using the solutions to digitize text, annotate images, and build machine-learning datasets. This in turn helps preserve books, improve maps, and solve hard AI problems.
Thanks, and I am relieved to hear that. I hate extra hoops to jump through but with all the bad actors out there today, sometimes you just gotta protect folks.
After all his abuse, I think @jamesh is obligated to set up a direct line for @DrShaw. I have such a number but will not give out, top secret you know.

I work in the network security world. 31 years. I strongly recommend everyone become familiar with a good password keeper like LastPass to generate and store truly unique passwords (and usernames is a bonus) and enable 2nd factor authentication where ever possible. If you use an online financial firm that does not have 2nd factor, ask them to add it or move your assets to one that does.
In order of security, push to authenticator app is best, iMessage is OK, SMS is better than nothing, forget email.
Maybe I am the least paranoid person on this forum or the least tech savoy ( pretty likely ) but I am here every stinkin’ day and have never been subjected to the dreaded CAPTCHA. Is it me?
Your browser is likely setup to keep you logged in and to retain cookies. I similarly do not need to login each time I visit the forum.
I use LastPass to generate and store. So I get a bit cranky having to comply with Captcha.
Excellent, now figure out the setting that is deleting cookies and you’ll be all set.
Or treat the captcha as a chance to slow down and breathe
I’ve sent this to all of my Star Trek nerd friends. Good one.
And I missed it!! lol
There’s a new captcha-like thing I’ve seen recently on other websites where the user simply slides a jigsaw puzzle piece into its place. Much less annoying and easier than going on a scavenger hunt looking for crosswalks, buses, etc.
Guys .at least it is not asking to deposit a couple of coins
to come and play
I use the Firefox browser and the reCaptcha dialog isn’t displayed. I finally was able to log in using MS Edge. Any idea why the reCaptcha dialog isn’t displayed in Firefox?
Thanks, Robert
… also, way back when PS-Audio did an upgrade of their forums software and my userid “kernelbob” got mixed up with this “walterb-rown12” user id. Any way the PS-Audio folks can fix this?
