boo.
Whether it’s digital or analog, it’s the difference in the quality of the recording that is often the variable that will make a system sing or not. It’s the audiophiles’ curse that the majority of albums that we love fall short in sonic expectations.
Well said Al! I knew you’d be able to describe this experience better than I. The thought that it could of sounded better with a different cable and maybe full stealth power cables seems inconceivable but I wouldn’t be surprised. Next visit the MBL 101 extremes will be at Kyomi and I will prepare myself for another mind blow! Thanks again
I find it fun if forum members meet to enjoy the hobby together.
Although way “über meinem Budget”, I would like to experience how those radial MBL radiators sound.
One’s music collection speaks as to where your allegiance lies, as it is fundamentally about listening to the music in the format provided. There is no right, wrong or middle ground, only immersion in the music. My collection is comprised of 10,000 LPs and 3,600 CD/SACDs more or less. It speaks to format availability for the musics I prefer at the time the music was available.
That’s a serious looking pickup system. At $60k for the kit I’ll bet it sounds pretty good too.
This one is 6K DS 003
Making progress on the new room. I’m really sore today after relocating all the amps and speakers yesterday. I started at 5:30 am and stopped around 6pm. My forearm is wrecked from trimming carpet padding with shears. But I think it will be worth it.
This room has major mode issues, even though the slap echo is greatly improved with the addition of rugs and furniture, you can hear the room singing in an abrupt pause of the audio. I have more furniture to move in and another area rug to lay down. Once all that is done then Ill start placing the room treatments I have in hand and the ones on order from GIK (shipping in December )
A pleasant surprise is how well the Bozaks (Urban 302A’s) sound and image from the current location. They actually are more furniture than speakers but its fun to change it up.
Its going to take quite a bit more time and effort to finish. More to come later.
Very nice space indeed.
Starting from scratch like that you will certainly end up with a really good space. Nice job so far!
Those KEF Reference I must sound amazing in that room.
After a Sony miniset with active speaker configuration, that performed not bad at all fr it’s price:
I thought that my speakers had to be full size floor standing models. So I got a set of Canton Vento. They sounded like a million dollar in our large living room in Texas but just did not cut the chase in our small living room in The Netherlands.
They improved tremendously when I replaced the AV receiver with a dedicated stereo integrated.
I was just so pleasantly surprised by how much better my current bookshelf Buchardt A400 SE match in our room. Also on a trip-pod.
Apart from the soundstage image, the tripos stands make the room visually look more spacious too.
Those KEF Reference 1 are meant to be fantastic speakers. You could probably get good value by upgrading the Zen Mini. I was speaking to Innuos today as I was considering upgrading from Zen to Zenith, and they advised that the Phoenix Net is a better upgrade. Using Innuos 2.0 instead of Roon is also a significant improvement.
!
I’ve given up on Vinyl and Digital…
Decided to go with a TRUE synergistic system.
A needle that lasts forever,
no need for expensive cables,
and not a single issue with speaker positioning
.…VPI and dcsBartok, eat your hearts out…
Now DuneKid…that is truly state of the art…and horn lovers will really
like this one…
Best wishes
Are those scrolls audiophile…molds?
Any of those cylinders include Buddy Bolden? I’m looking for one, I’ll take it off your hands.
To be honest—my next upgrade, after reading all of your comments, will be to get a HUGE pay raise—and being retired, that is very unlikely!
start a crypto investment account. Wait, you could lose half too. never mind.
Crypto is more confusing and more mind numbing and more improbable that any audio upgrade!
