Yeah, problem is now I’m looking at the GainCell DAC to go with the S300 and setting the Sprout up as a bedroom system.

Just be careful what is behind a few of those gateways! The P15 gateway led me to some trippy places.

I’ve done a lot of upgrades that last two weeks. A new P20 with SR Purple fuse, replaced fuses in my D&D 8cs with SR Purple, added the 3M absorber to the P20, upgraded Roon, and finally got the new software for the 8cs to make them Roon ready. I was able to remove my Matrix from the chain. I have simplified to Nucleus+ → router → EtherRegen → 8cs with all of it powered by the P20. I think I’m going to listen for a while.
Although, my AES/XLR inputs are freed up on the 8cs so I could go down the turntable path…

Just lost my old CD player so now I’m thinking about a used PerfectWave CD transport as my next acquisition and waiting a bit on the GainCell DAC. Saving for a DirectStream SACD would be ideal, but may be a bridge to far financially.

By the way, my air and power and vacuum unit for my trillion dollar turntable just showed up. It’s time to stop listening to that horrible digital noise and get back to good old vinyl!

After watching an Audiophiliac video where Steve praised the Riverstone Audio VTF scale, I bought one. I agree with him that this thing is excellent. It comes with 5gm and 20 gm weights for calibration, which weren’t needed with mine and for roughly $30, it’s a bargain.
btw–it registered my vtf quite different than the scale I was using and it’s now dead-on with the scale etched on my tonearm. The weight was corrected from 1.72, the low recommended to 1.78, the high recommended. And the sonic difference is substantial. Thirty bucks.

There was a guy standing on a median in high winds yesterday with a 10F temp trying to raise money to get home to wherever he lives. I did a u-turn and handed him three twenties. He thought pretty highly of my gesture.
The turntable is singing! The air bearing is doing its thing but more importantly the vacuum hold down is as well. I have two dozen new albums to listen to. Each one has already been ultrasonically cleaned and readied for this wonderful day. The first record, My Sleeping Karma - My Sleeping Karma. I’m rocking out analog style nice again! Hooray! Hooray twice! Hooray three times!
