Your Next Upgrade? (Part 1)

I still have my Utopia’s and I like to hedge my bets. I’m selling my headphone amp a WOO WA5-LE. As I now have the Bartók and the BHK Pre for headphones. I’m streamlining my whole system down to bare essentials.
Streamer>Waversa Bridge>Bartók>BHK Pre>BHK 300’s>Wilson Sasha’s, JL f112.

I am going to take a bite on the Akiko XLR stick, and the USB stick. I did not find any negative reviews, but few reviewers understood the science behind these products either. Well, I do not understand the science behind the $5k cables, but at least these sticks are a bargain if they work. 14 day returning policy is reassuring too.

I’ve been using an Akiko tuning device on my TT grounding post for a few years. I have no idea how it works, but work it does. I’ve had two fellow TT enthusiasts come to listen to music on my table (separate visits), and they both decided the music sounded better one way vs another, not knowing what I was doing at any given time using and not using the Akiko.

Thanks for the feedback! I have good luck in finding treasures in audio rabbit holes lately, and I hope this is another great find. I am looking forward to testing them in my system.

[At least I think this is the animal I was hunting.]

If you guys think the Akiko Audio sticks work well…try to give listen to the Corelli…game changer!

That’s in my sights. If the USB stick does as much as the Universal and AC do, Corelli is next.

After the Corelli… next up would be the Akiko Audio Harmonizer Unit…connect it to a ground rail in your breaker box…and it will turbo charge the Corelli for even more of that Corelli goodness. It uses the same harmonizer as used in the Corelli!

I know…it never stops.

This is a $4 upgrade in my system that I encourage anyone to try. You can return the blocks at your big box store if you
don’t like them and get a workout. 4 8 inch square concrete blocks at a $1 each lift my chair and subsequently my listening height. I find lifting my chair up 8 inches makes my system sound a little better. My ears are about 4 ft 2 inches from the floor versus 3ft 6 inches in a room with 8ft ceilings. I think the improvement is more related to getting away from a vertical room mode. It could also be my ears are closer to the mid point of the Omni MBL drivers. Whatever the case, when I get into serious listening mode I get into throne height.

Some alternatives. If you have sofa. The stacking ones are for 1 inch custom tuning option. You definitely have the low cost leader solution.

What’s risk of falling? What’s the impact if the risk is realized? Will insurance cover me? Will I fully recover? How can I mitigate it?

Tonight I brought my Jay’s Audio CDT2-MKIII CD transport and PS Audio DSD Jr. DAC with both pairs of RAL HDMI cables. (In case one failed, it didn’t) to my little brothers home. I need to bring him upgrade interconnects for the connection between his Crown preamp and Crown power amp. I need to bring him better power cables. He was floored. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He was so happy!

By the way, he has Canton CT2000 speakers. They seem nice.

I tried to tell him I compared the two items with my Gryphon Ethos and the combo I brought to his house and the Ethos laid waste to what he was enjoying immensely.

He ignored me. Good choice.

Hell, I loved what I was hearing at his place. But now I am home. Ooops.

I told him the gear was on extended loan. It was all still mine. As if I would take it back. Gosh.

I edited it thanks to you!

Scotte, you are getting the very first version of this cable, slightly different–does not have the additional “ring” halfway down the cable and has clear molded connectors (I can’t find a picture of it online and I’m challenged in not having a camera I can connect to the web).

It’s a good cable, not sure how it compares to this later version.

Roger that.

This has been a favorite approach with car and truck audiophiles for quite some time…
