I would not be too hung up on moving the rack. Sure, give it a try. But, given the height and position of your speakers’ upper frequency drivers, I suspect the rack/equipment is not having a significant, negative impact on your overall experience.
That said, the “live” front wall would seem to benefit from some selective placement of some high-frequency diffusers.

It was always a matter of trial and error what’s best where to place the components. The sound wave barrier effect plays a role, the EMI and RF noise dissipation of the components to the room even more and if it’s better to have the latter assymetrically at the side or in the middle between the components…and the add. speaker cable length effect (assumed one not also uses worse cabling due to the higher expense) if the gear stands at a side. You did the first thing right not to pile all your gear up in the air. I personally decided for a low placement in the middle, short cable lengths and active EMI/HF cancelling.
By the way: if you should ever plan to sell your arm, wait until autumn, because everyone who needs to ensure himself by the written word will want to buy it then I guess 
I agree with your new arrangement. The superficial 
in me likes the looks of the the ‘2 stack’ in the first photo.
I don’t disagree with, but never understood the point of stacked subs. Do you miss their contribution to your sound?
Did they cover different frequencies–that can’t be covered by one pair?
I’d say the more you stack, the lower level you can use on each of them, the lower the distortion resulting.
Otherwise the room is also more evenly stimulated vertically.

Your marvelous speakers may sound different in your great room set up.
I tend to prefer speakers a little bit far from each others than from the sweet spot. Even if in this picture proportions are indistinguishable (lot of distortion in image) I have
9.5 feet tweeter to tweeter
8,8 feet speaker to my ears
So the rule of equilateral triangle in general is not always applied. Also REL subs between the speakers is not correct but I like them more in that location.
Unfortunately my rack cannot go on the side wall so it stays in a sort of furniture niche that ever boosts the realism of the soundstage.

I heard Fremers last review at Stereophile might be the arm I currently have. Plan on keeping it. 
The detraction of having to have the Rel subs so close to the Omni speakers heavily outweighed the extra shimmer benefit with the top subs. Also I have a room mode at 53 hz that got excited with the the upper frequencies of the top subs. The bottom subs at a crossover around 38 to 43 hz provided all the bottom end I needed for the 101s.
I do have diffusers that I can place on the front with varied effects. With omnis you just end up having a different sound field with the mids and highs. The bass issues are all the same no matter what speaker design.
Nice set up. I like all that media on the shelves also.
If you know that much, you might also know what his first AS review will be. Quite a few will buy new record players after that I guess

If you want to try two Rel N25s for a month or two we should arrange a meeting. They take up a lot of space packaged
I just saw a video snippet of Fremer at Munich where he mentioned the review of the Axiom in August/Septembers? Issue of Stereophile. The video was probably a week or two before the big announcement of his shift to AS.
I think you need to try some distributed subs. Though @paul172 might not agree. Woofer stacks can be great but spread about the room is good too.
