My original plan was to wait to do the Vcom mod and the next LL 1948 transformer mod to our DS until the MKII comes out so I can tinker with it while the MKII is in the main rig. But, if the MKII is not out by Fall, I’m going to go ahead and do the mods. It’s not like I am in a hurry, I’m just itching to tinker and I don’t want to buy a second DS so I can play.
But based on what I am seeing in the Modding topic, the last pics Ted has shared look very production-like. Perhaps we are close. My guess is the AirLens and the MKII come out very close to one another. That really benefits PSA to off the end-point and the DAC as a solution vs parts. This of course is IMHO.
I have all the parts need to upgrade my DSD Sr. But I don’t have my DSD Sr. as it is on an extended loan to a good friend. I don’t have the heart to ask for it back. I also don’t have any need for it stock or modified. Hmmmmm.

Nothing fancy. Onkyo receiver, KEF LS50 speakers, a single REL sub, Euphony server, Chord Qutest DAC and various video components. My wife doesn’t care for audio gear….
My wife cares about music and likes the music coming out of our system. She absolutely does not like my non-stop workouts on cables, fuses, footers, among other nonsenses she called.
She absolutely hates me when asked to compare the difference from the above workouts.
She does not hate me really but is annoyed when I replay the same songs repeatedly for a while doing the tweaking. She often said, “what is wrong with your ear, and I can hear the difference from upstairs!”. I would only admit here that she may have better ears than me.
An upgrade through subtraction. I went from four subs to two because to properly integrate the Rels they need to be close to the MBLs. This crowded the MBL bass melon. I also shifted the speakers and subs more to the.right 1 ft 3 inches. The first picture shows the old setup. Embarrassed it took me this long to do these tweeks. Lesson learned…don’t let your rack of equipment
define where to place your speakers. The speakers should define the position of your equipment. Next upgrade is.when the 9 meter interconnects arrive and the rack is moved to the side of the room. Will be selling 2 Rel subs in the future.
I cannot accept the fact that both Matt and I overlooked the wall erected to the left and right of each 101. It is so obviously incorrect. And having the walls gone now sounds better than amything else I have heard.
Except the @paul172 system. He is currently winning. I wish he had a turntable…
The speakers are 8 ft 3 inches tweeter to tweeter. The listening preference for me is around 9.5 ft. Some of my friends prefer sitting further back a foot or forward a foot. The left speaker is 7.3ft from the side wall and both speakers sit around 7 ft from the windows behind them The speakers sit on symposium platforms so they are also easy to move. That’s one of the reasons I am so annoyed with myself for not moving both speakers a foot to the right…moving the rack is a whole different story.
