Hard to believe all this discussion is going on due to an ordinary troll.
It’s like the return of 2chan4ever.
I simply shared my experience with a non ps audio product. I used some sarcasm and exaggeration, however telling someone to sell their gear and buy other gear instead is extremely non offensive in the range of offensive things that could be said.
Again, if someone were to say that a piece of gear sucked that I liked, there would be nothing personally offensive or controversial about that. The controversy here, in my opinion has to do with 2 things. 1) this forum is hosted by ps audio and 2) it’s my observation that audiophiles are fragile about their stereos.
I remain excited about the cardas Nautilus, the sound, it’s vibe, the external grounding scheme, and the space savings. It’s fantastic.
Good luck to you and happy holidays
If I hadn’t actually bought the product and did a comparison, then I would agree with you that that would be trolling.
This isn’t trolling, in my opinion.
We all respect Paul’s viewpoint, and sometimes or often disagree politely. Some here buy exclusively PS Audio, some buy when it’s the best choice (my approach). We all like to see PS Audio do well and the speaker range is looking like a real winner and, hopefully for Paul, a money-spinner. We all bring different insights, not least because of regional differences. Here in the UK we have IsoTek, Isol-8, Puritan and others making conditioners, only IsoTek make regenerators, so we are more familiar over decades with conditioning. Plus our mains 240v and we have stricter power regulation.
Most people share their experience of other brand’s products, but don’t directly recommend. I for one am interested in different approaches to good sound. Paul said in a video the other day that, sure, he looks at the competition’s products, see how they solve problems, and they share ideas. PS Audio bought a couple of Innuos streamers and maybe that contributed to the decision to stop trying to reinvent that type of product (just too much software cost).
I’m not sure it’s particularly polite to suggest people sell PS Audio gear.
We also have to understand different supply chains. PS Audio is largely made in the USA for the USA, where there is more wealth. iFi, for example, is designed in the UK and made in the Far East for global distribution. The UK market is too small with lower buying power, so the focus has to be on international distribution. It is the same in many countries over here. Fortunately for Denmark they have @aangen to keep their economy going.
I’m glad you enjoy Cardas and Rega.
Your 2nd observation is projecting and false. Your first observation is accurate but in your context insinuates the 2nd.
It isn’t projecting because I couldn’t care less about the approval or disapproval of my purchasing decisions.
I think everyone should make their own choices.
Clearly, saying “sell your regenerators and get product x or y” is a sarcastic exaggeration. I am projecting in the sense that I am very happy with the decision to sell my power regenerator and get a different product. It isn’t a projection however in the sense that I’m fragile about my stereo. Again, I couldn’t care less what is said about any product. I do however appreciate honest comparisons from beginners like me, who share their observations and experiences about products. The subjective observations are what I like about hi fi.
Bit jealous. Those KEF’s must sound great. How close do you have them to the wall?
I like the PS Audio I2S trilogy: DSD MKII, PWST and AirLens. If I had the space for separates I consider them the biggest bang for the bucks. Feed them with an Innuos Zen MKIII and you have the most versatile high end native DSD and PWM high res bit perfect front end.
Your Pass Labs Amps must be a joy in that system.
- it’s my observation that audiophiles are fragile about their stereos…I disagree with this/your observation and I believe your assigning or projecting a generalized label on many of the folks in this forum. A vast majority are open minded and collegial. I have no doubt you are quite confident in your beliefs. I just don’t think it is fair to label and insinuate that most folks on this forum are fragile about their systems.
Has anyone tried using the Isoacoustics Orea Bordeaux under a Pass Labs class A amp? Wondering if the heat generated would be an issue. I don’t have any personal experience with class A amps so not sure how the heat is dissipated.
That’s fair. We can all enjoy our systems how we see fit.
Happy holidays
My XA160.8’s run about 110f on the bottom surface fully warmed up so you should have no trouble. They may suggest a slightly higher load rating based on the temperature but it is nowhere near being able to degrade the rubber (or other elastomeric) compound.
Too close. Life is a compromise. I do love my system though…and it’s about to get better…fun!
I just checked my change clock and it’s been nearly 2 years since I replaced my DAC and haven’t been anything but happy to simply listen to music!
It’s probably time to clean all the XLR connectors
I fight for every inch to put the speakers at distance from the front wall.
We have a tiled floor. The grout between the tiles make for good markers.
Made a deal with my CFO / interior director about the speaker position. I would buy the passive radiated speakers that were considerably more economic than the sealed models I had in mind, but those needed more distance.
And I‘ll be darned, when I go upstairs to the home office and return for lunch, the speakers magically moved closer to the wall.
It’s our personal loudness war
You need to buy heavier speakers!
The Wilson Sasha DAW are 236lbs each. That should slow down your CFO!
Definitely!
Be careful. She might end up moving @Rudolf_Appel…
On the fence here folks. I would like your opinions. Most of you know what my system consists of.
A: another PS Audio regenerator OR
B: MK2 DS DAC
Since the bridge II would go with the DAC, feasible to just plug in my custom ROON Rock server via USB?
This is for some time in the new year.
I am not help with first but if you do go MKII get or build yourself a RPi end point. Much better results than direct from core and less than 200. Or go cheap iFi with nice LPS for a bit more. But still under 600.
easy choice IMHO…B
