Ekstatik-3Q-x220

The Ekstatik, made for Linn by EMT.
I got to audition it and couldn’t whip my credit card out fast enough.

I am replacing a pair of Rocket 33 3 footers (gold spades) with 6 footers (delivered yesterday) as i want to move two of the amps closer to the wall.

The 3 footers will be for sale shortly.

Congratulations, a wonderful looking MC. I’ve yet to hear one, and based on the price probably best I don’t.

Dealer is giving me a “friends and family” price plus a good trade-in for my Kandid.

Sweet. I have been out of the turntable game for some time but glad to see EMT is still in the hunt.
When I was working in a HiFi shop in the 70’s, we took the cartridge out of the heavy head shell it came in
and mounted the guts on whatever tone arm. Much better and was the best cartridge for years until a Kuetso Rosewood showed up at the insane price of $1,000. Have fun.

Even though I don’t smoke, my dealer said he’ll provide me with a cigarette. Apparently, the Ekstatik will complete the “Klimax” spec of my LP-12. :grinning:

It’s either that or fall asleep right away.

Ha! Well glad to learn you enjoyed it!

Assuming you’ve had enough time to dial it in how does it improve on the Kandid? Your phono stage is it a Pass XP-27?

The way I auditioned it was at a dealer; identical LP-12s side by side, going into a D’Agostino. Only difference was the Kandid on one and Ekstatik on the other.
And yes, I have an XP-27
I’ll let you know how it works in my rig.
At the shop, the Ekstaik was more of everything, more meat on the bones, more analog, if that makes sense.

Makes perfect sense to these old tired ears. I auditioned the Kandid when I had my LP 12 upgraded, and as much as I liked it I thought it was less organic sounding. Or as you say less meat on the bones and less analog sounding. At the time I was leaning more towards a Dynavector DV XX2 Mk2. Being stingy I have yet to update my Denon DL 304 as Ken Christianson said it had considerable life in it and sounds fine on the LP 12. A bit of an over achiever. Looking forward to hearing your Klimax rig by proxy.

Hi Vince. HDAC?

At $688 for a set of connectors, plus $680/meter for cabling, these connectors may be a good deal for the DIY crowd.

There are several very nice grinders on this site.

I feel like I need the salt and pepper grinder.
