Don’t hold your breath on the FedEx promise. Been there done that ![]()
FedEx used to only have one machine that shakes the packages at ten times the force of gravity. This caused too many delays so now they have two of them.
Once people get used to this they will go back to using just one. Especially at Christmas.
With complete acknowledgement of FedEx’s propensity for disappointment, I am going to do my best to remain optimistic.
This is for @dchang05 in particular. We discussed a lot on how would it be possible to compare CDs via PST to music streamed via various digital rigs.
Today I’m doing a few comparisons using the MSB DAC and for the first time I reached the surprising result of equivalent quality. It’s pretty indistinguishable the sound to my ear at the moment. Clarity, definition, details, immersive feeling, background. Fullness, body, richness, tonality. Naturalness maybe a little bit prone to lay towards the warmth. All these things exactly in the same way, both streaming and playing CDs (44/16 identical albums).
The engagement is emotionally at the same degree, sonically equivalent and physically as much strong as possible.
If I had a blind test I wouldn’t certainly hear any difference. A deeper critical listening of 3 hours permitted me to get a final preference: no preferences at all! The enormous smile on my face is the proof in both ways.
Don’t ask me why but if a choice is needed between CDs and streaming, with all above premised, I would go for… streaming. I’m not really able to argument or articulate the reason, is what it is.
Streaming: Statement > PinkFaun USB > ProUSB module > MSB fiber cable > ProISL module
CDs: PST > AES/EBU XLR cable (Argento Audio Serenity cable, borrowed by the importer - I didn’t know before).
Couldn’t be happier.
They make them in a conveyer format now, even more efficient. Of course it can be optimized by AI for your enjoyment.
Very nice!
But with that said they are NEVER late with the Chewy order.
That is a great place to be. Congrats!
My dog gave you a virtual thumbs up because, …well because he doesn’t have one.
Dogs need their treats. Somehow they put up with us and like it.
With the Powerbase and Clock available as enhancements, there’s even more improvement to be had.
You’re in the thick of it now.
Total audio bliss cannot be fully achieved until you have spent $100k on a single item. Without doing so you will live in a state of constant doubt. It’s best to just get it over with.
Don’t you live near Wrexham? Wales’s little bit of Hollywood?
There is always a place more northern than the most north, and unfortunately more southern than the most south. And rarely there is the right place at the right time but the place you are depends from you. What???
Don’t ask me what does it mean, I’m listening to music and I’m so happy even if I don’t know where I am.
You are a terrible guy!
Just asked to the importer if a home audition of the Powerbase is possible during the next days. Be patient!
I hope today FedEx could distract you from my slow torture. Keep us informed: DRIIIIN… DRIIIN! Has anyone rang the bell?
Aye, the Wirral is virtually Wales, and probably was in the past.
They seem very pleased about the result of a football match at the moment ![]()
That’s great to know.
Enjoy.
I would add that the quality of the recording is an important (if not THE MOST important) factor.
At the risk of sounding like Captain Obvious, it has been my experience that the better the recording engineering prowess and musicianship captured in/on the track, the more likely higher/“better” resolution recordings are likely to outshine lower resolution versions of the same recording.
FWIW.
I had to pick my dad up from the Chelsea Hospital yesterday. He said he was spending the rest of the weekend resting and watching his team. Being a Spurs fan, I’m expecting a call to take him back to hospital.
