Ops! It seems like the PST can play SACD only via I2S, not via AES/EBU output. If so the MSB DAC isn’t able to play SACD from PST, even if it can play 1xDSD via AES/EBU. This is a I2S limit.
Having said that I would need to rip a few SACDs (I have less then 10 actually, not a big problem but not happy for that indeed) and my Innuos Statement is able to rip only CD red book.
A computer/software is required if I want to listen to my SACDs. MK II here wins against the MSB DAC.
Luca, according to Sony that’s a no-no, unless they get paid some ridiculous amount of money in licensing fees (if that is even possible!).
I’m listening to Bach on the lute and occasionally browsing. These damned Luxmans are like a plague. They’re everywhere. There must be something about them.
I’m starting to get cable paranoia. Currently using $50 pair of standard Mogami from the Lumin T3. Having just bought some RCA from Sean Jacobs for my phono amp, I called him and told him I now need XLR for Lumin and phono. About $350 per pair, but he does use gold Neutrik connectors. Do I just get Mogami Gold? Counting the pennies.
I suppose it depends on the cable Jacobs uses.
Can you get a demo pair from Jacobs?
Man, that Luxman looks luxe
.
I have the coffee machine on Alexa. The location of my amplifier allows me to turn it on by pressing the power button with the big toe of my left foot. As I have two left feet, as my wife tells me, I have options.
Of course it has a 1970s style remote with on/off. Standby consumes 0.05W, or something like that, so there is no need to use digits. I’m not sure it can be powered off completely from the front panel.
My dealer has DartZeel, McIntosh, Engstrom, MBL and a few others besides Soulution, but also Zanden. Their amplifier looks like my coffee machine, but a little more expensive.
Dr Sean Jacobs, as people seem to call him (he’s quite normal really) makes all his cables and power supplies to order. All cables are by the yard, just like my tailor.
I rip mine with a $25 Sony Blu-ray player I bought on eBay.
Vince, did you consider the MSB DACs before you climbed on the dCS bandwagon? Luca is saying lots of wonderful things about the MSB DAC he’s listening to right now.
Just got back from golf practice and lunch and I missed 20+ posts on this thread already.
That is what I thought that only I2S can decode SACD. So, my next DAC needs to have an I2S input since I have a couple hundred of SACDs, and they are still growing.
TSS seems to be the best DAC upgrade for me in future.
I did look at the MSB. Since I had the good fortune to have a six week loaner of dCS it felt like a sure bet. I am guessing if it was a MSB loaner, that would have been the direction I went.
I feel your excitment!! I have a couple of days to go for my Avid Turntable and Acoustic Signature arm and I feel the anticipation also. But it is UPS, not FedEx.
Just got a Fed Ex delivery of two AQ Hurricanes for my BHK 600’s. They seem nice. Probably will need more hours to burn in completely. I have all Dragons on the source gear. I thought the sonic bump factor would be smallest on the amps. I asked the same question to Garth Powell at the show. He said “yes”.
Nothing like a question in search of confirmation.
I am looking forward to learning how they break-in. I was thinking about one for my 625 S2.
Congrats Vince. Sick day tomorrow? Lol
I like how the back looks. Power plug at the middle and right and left channels are separated on each side. I wish PSA will someday do that.
I wish. I am working on promotions for some of my direct reports. I also want to write a recommendation letter for one of my peers.
I should have it installed in the next hour or so.
