15 minutes of my life wasted. Swapped out a pair of Telefunken in our BHK Pre for a pair of Siemens e188cc/7308’s. Plugged everything in, fired it up, no sound. Test all inputs on the Pre, no sound. Unplug/replug cables - no sound. Cable DS to 250 - Sound. WTF? Oh - jumpers in the Pre.
Yes, I just thought you pictured the same setup you listened to with her. But understood…no DAW, even with grill (although they look quite similar to me) Wife’s rule
I recently replaced a pair of NOS Radiotechnique 12AU7s (actually they’re now OOS after almost 2 years in my BHK pre) with a pair of Sophia Electric 12AU7s. They are expensive-ish for new tubes ($120 each for A grade with 30 day warranty) and the forum trolls do their best to diss SE tubes (without having heard them at all or in decent equipment doncha know) for not possibly being any good because of being made wherever they’re made. Or something.
I really like them in my system so far. They are super quiet both in terms of audible noise at the speakers (for whatever that’s worth) and in terms of the perceived noise floor. The bass is outstanding in all regards, the soundstage is large, deep and images within the stage are detailed and well-organized. Quite dynamic and the top end is superb as well.
I’m very happy, and today I scored a great deal on a trade-in pair of current model Synergistic Atmosphere Level 3 XLRs to replace the Level 1s I’m currently happily using between my DS Dac and my BHK preamp.
Another live show. Keri Noble. She played piano with electric bass, electric lead, drums, and cello as backing. First time I ever heard electric guitar and cello dueling in a jazz improvisation. Get out and see live music if you can folks. It will make you a better audiophile.
Live music is so intoxicating. I haven’t been to a live show since about 2016 when I saw Aerosmith and a few others due to various health issues with family members, but there really is nothing like it.
Wow awesome I was one of the people who helped with the tru Glider designer design for the Tru lift for Technics SL1200G I had at the time. Also beta tester for Dan Wright for the PH9.0 now have the PH9.0X.
I will be mounting a Thales Simplicity II tonearm on my SL1210GAE with the outboard power supply.
Very intrigued about the optical cartridges I have been following them since the beginning I appreciate Japanese engineering.
Are you in the DC MD NOVA area?
If you are interested in the DS Audio cartridges, definitely talk to Jose (Dr. Vinyl) up in Middle River, he carries that line and he is a setup wizard.
