Your Next Upgrade? (Part 2)

If you have black equipment then the black Omega will match well! I am more of a silver guy, so I selected the silver color. Although I have to admit the gold/black filters look beautiful!

Enjoy the Omega USB! I am sure in a few days the background noise will be gone and you will hear more of great details and appreicate how great this cable is.

I know you like trying things.

I use a solid silver teflon insulated usb cable from Artisan Silver Cables. They’ve been making these for many years. My 1.2m silver usb cost £335, about €350, less than 10% the cost of the Omega.

I also recently added a Link Cryo solid silver pair of XLR, it uses ultra pure cryo treated solid core silver and the conductors are suspended in silicone for very effective damping. That was about €700 for a 1.5m pair.

Even though the surface of my 48" teevee is a full 32" back from my tweeters, I decided to make an abfuser panel to hang over it using these quite modestly priced, but ingenious diffusors from Kyiv, Ukraine.

I cut down a 2’ by 4’ 1/4th inch thick birch ply board and attached the foam diffusors to the board with contact cement and I then added a couple of hooks to the back hang onto the teevee.

To say I’m thrilled with the results would be putting it quite mildly. Image stability, timbral coherence, clarity, and oddly–dynamics were greatly improved.

Nowhere near the lengths that Luca went to (you are my idol) but really gratifying nonetheless

Big Momma is iconic and still for sale.

Nice find! I was kidding to get it in my house. My wife thought that is a interesting looking chair, and I wonder how comfortable it really is.

Italian design! Meh!

My head was spinning, I just couldn’t figure out how to correctly interpret the shape of the chair. When I heard the name Big Momma, something clicked. The chair gives you the feeling of lying between the thighs of a fat woman and having your head on her big breasts.

You typed that out loud!!!

You are not the first one to think that😆

I don’t want my children to see that chair in my house, and they are adults.

Okay, I clicked on the link. I guess the big red orb is some kind of ottoman, but what about the cable connecting the chair with the orb? What gauge is it and is it made with OCC copper?

I used to know a lady, her father was Gastone Rinaldi. He designed loads of famous chairs, not one of which is any good for listening to music.

Interesting solution!
Could you please speak on what measures you took to prevent your tv from topling by the extra weight and getting scratched by the hooks and board?
Some pictures sure would be nice!

A few of you have asked about how I made my removable diffuser panel for my TV. The diffuser panels I bought on Amazon (link in #1623) which were made in and mailed from Kyiv, Ukraine! are made up of two 19.5" square soft black foam panels, each made up of eight contoured foam pieces bonded together with flat wooden “caps” glued onto the peaks. I think I got them about 3 weeks after I ordered them, which is comparable timing to some panels I purchased from GIK Acoustics in GA.

I got a piece of 1/4" birch plywood which I cut to size and then I bonded the foam panels to it with contact adhesive. I attached two hooks to the back with screws and glue as the hangers, and then added three felt furniture protector pads to keep from marring the TV screen when taking it on and off. It only weighs six pounds, so there is no undue stress put on the TV.

The fronts of my speakers are about 32" in front of my TV, but adding the diffuser panel was still quite effective. Originally I thought that I might get a little improvement in soundstage depth, but I was quite pleasantly surprised that I got nice improvements in clarity, image solidity, timbral accuracy and, oddly enough, dynamics.

Not bad for about $140 and an hour or so of puttering

I always thought I would use a heavy quilt to cover a TV. When watching tv you can use the quilt to stay snug and warm.

Oh No! Now you got me interested. I got a big window between the speakers with a nice view. Let me tell my wife I plan to block the view from the garden looking into the room. Let me see how will she like the idea.

Before all this, I would drape a textured throw over the TV
