Your Next Upgrade? (Part 2)

By the way, is the panel heavy? I have a stand for music scores I could fit in behind the rack. She may accept that as long as I took it out after listening.

Six pounds…

That will require some thinking and experiment on my part. I will save these into my Amazon list first. :slightly_smiling_face:

Update: I put the stand behind the rack, and my wife took one look and told me get that thing out of there. I guess I will not know if those panels will ever work. :joy: My younger daughter was not on my side either.

I imagine your new solution is much better sonically! Nice idea!
If you were a single man living alone you could hang a large diffuser on the ceiling with a pivot on each end. A near silent electric winch could tug the bottom of the panel up to the ceiling with a push of a button.

Then all you would need is this chair:

Was it not clear from the equipment spread all over the floor that I am a single man living alone???

It’s hard to choose between this chair and the Big Mama chair. But if I were single I know which one I want.

I could see that chair working equally well in two situations:

  1. You are single
  2. You wish to be single

Kind of looks like a Simpson’s piece.

More than speakers, amps, sources, cartridges, cables, fuses and chairs… is the room the key, I have the proof after having experienced it.
Windows, TVs, glasses\’s big surfaces make a big difference, sonically speaking.
A perfect symmetric environment is crucial as much as the quality of the electrical grid…

Anyhow nothing that a good album with a glass of your favorite wine cannot eliminate. This contributes also to save the marriage in the long run!

I totally agree with last Steve Huff’s video:

After a few years having heard Al’s advice about Stealth, I’ve started this new journey (rabbit hole), first order placed, 8 weeks delivery time

USB cables and power cords could follow, am I need rehabilitation?

My lottery tickets were a total bust so no Stealth cables for me.
I gave brief consideration to Krappy Kables but ordered a set of Silversmith Audio Fidelium speaker cables instead. The Krappy website is at least entertaining, cable length is 1 table.

My wife often said when I listen to music the window was always closed by drapery, but she admitted the music sound a lot smoother without the view of the garden. She left me alonešŸ™

So are you going to compare AQ Dragon to Stealth power cords? That would be some battle. :person_fencing:

I love those Fildelium speaker cables, and they are poor man’s Stealth. You will love their fast, warm and smooth sound.

Enjoy, don’t analyze.

Laughing quietly.
AQ versus Stealth.
Um. I know where my money is going. It is not AQ.
We have already determined the Gryphon Vanta Power cables lay waste to the mighty Dragon.

I’m afraid this is my next rabbit hole, after having completed the job with the network path.

Which Stealth power cords are you using for the Ethos and/or digital sources in general? Or do you suggest starting from 20-20 feeding the amp?
Actually my P20 is feeding the server/streamer and switch while a PSM156 is feeding the DAC, so my guess is looking for different power cords with each component rather than going to a one cable solution for the P20.
I’m still not familiar with different Stealth PC models, it means V12 or V10-20 digital I don’t know how can be considered ā€œobsoleteā€.

The number attached to Stealth cables refers to the year they were created. 10-12 is pretty old stuff. It might have been wonderful back then, but it has been totally surpassed by the new designs.

Most of my power cables are Dream 18 LE Uni. My Gryphon Apex is using Dream 2020. My Ethos has a Cloude Grande AG. That one was expensive. It is a wonder to look at though!

Search Google for ā€œStealth Price Listā€ and you will see what is currently available.

Can I detect a difference between the various models I have? I suppose it is possible but all my gear arrived with the various cables. I hooked them up and the sound is the sound. I have compared analog cables and I personally will not accept anything below Sakra V17. I started with a pair of Sakra V12 between my amp and preamp. And a Sakra V16 between the DAC and the preamp. (This was with the Gryphon Pandora and Antileon Evo Amp.) When I switched to Sakra V17 LE cables it was a very obvious and serious upgrade. The newer gear started with the good stuff.

I got a pair of 1.5m Sakra V17 cables from a guy who moved his gear and needed 5m cables. I got a less than half price deal. I believe I got all my interconnects around half price. I believe the markup is 50% so my dealer was kind on cables and tough on the gear prices. Gryphon doesn’t like discounted prices I believe. But for me they are welcome to what they ask.

I have to say I bought interconnects based on comparisons, and power cables on faith. Digital cables and the connection between my turntable and phono preamp I just went for the best they offer.

I did test the Sakra V17 vs. the Gen 2 Iconoclasts. When I listened to the Iconoclast cables I thought they were quite good. When I switched to the Sakras I learned how great better cables can perform. Most cables color the sound in some way. Not the V17. No sir.

On another forum I visit a guy asked me for advice. He had a chance to buy Sakra V12 or V17 cables. In his system he preferred the V12 cables. I still own a pair of balanced Sakra V12 cables and they are on the shelf. @paul172 tested the V12 cables and he was initially impressed but found something he already owned seemed better.

So in my opinion, if you are going to do it, do it with the newer cables.

I started my true ā€œhigh-endā€ power cord journey with a Stealth V10 and a Dragon HC. subsequently I bought 3 more Dragon Source cords. Dragon is just so much better than all my other cords. However, Stealth V10 is the low end of Dream series but it was still a $3k cable.

A Stealth V16 or higher will probably beat Dragon, as it should considering the price difference. I also realized Dragon could be beaten recently. But my cable vs gear ratio has already reached 1 to 1 ratio, and I love the obvious improvement they made. So, I am glad to hear that you will be working hard to reach that ratio toošŸ˜†

I believe my cable collection has brought out the max. Potential from the PSA gears so the expenditure is justified in my twisted mind, Should I go further knowing the next level is to spend 3 times more on every gear? Nah, I’m quite happy with what I have and will just do little tweaking. The next move will be a pair of smaller pair of speakers like PR30 or something, and a potential TSS down the road then I’m done for another 10 years.šŸŒšŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

The real wise move would be checking into this forum rabbit hole a lot less frequently.

I believe with your system these cables and power cords are well justified. You’re in a position that your dealer friends would know and recommend which cables to use. Most of us have no idea and will waste a lot of money. I frankly believe the money is well spent in your case! Cables and cords are so important.

You mentioned a great point about system matching. Stealth cables work with Gryphon nicely, but may not perform to their potential with other brands. I guess that’s why there are as many cable brands out there as the electronics.
