About to try an Air Lens, I have questions

A: How do you access the Air Lens by it’s I.P. address?
B: Can you do the software updates over the network without manipulating the switches on the unit?

From what I’ve read on the main AirLens thread, there is no accessing via IP address - there is no software or webpage to configure the WiFi or anything else. It’s all DIP switches.

While I know I would love the sound, I need better configuration options than what it offers. This has prevented me from buying this component sadly.

If the AirLens could be configured via a web page or app, I would buy it in a heartbeat, even if it cost a bit more. As it stands, my streamer is the only non-PS Audio component in my system and I am happy with the sound and configurability. I think DIP switches and WPS for the WiFi are mistakes preventing many potential buyers for this product. Look at the competition and how they provide the user interface at the same or less $$.

My problem is no compatibility with Amazon Music. I get it, Amazon is a PitA when it comes to co-operating with 3rd party Vendors. But there are more options nowadays regarding accessing Amazon music playback Bitperfect.

Other than that. It looks like an excellent product.

I got the Air Lens in today.
I’m comparing it to the Sonore opticalRendu.
My DAC does not have an I2S connection so I’m forced to use coax ( the Rendu uses USB).
Lampizator Amber 3 is the DAC.

It’s sounding great so far, but…
I tried to get some DSD files to play, but none of the switch settings I’ve tried work. All I get is silence.

Is it broke or am I doing something wrong?
(Yes I’ve read the manual several times)

Based on the specifications chart at the end of the manual, the AirLens can handle native DSD only via the I2S interface. It can do DoP over coax, but only up to DSD 128. Some software gives you control over whether you send DSD natively or as DoP.

Yes, that is understood, but I can’t get any sound when trying to send the signal by DOP, even at 64.

I also tried flipping the switches to no DSD, by flipping switches 3&4 down, but got no sound.

FYI, I’m using Roon, and there isn’t much to change there
I’m turning it off when I change switches, is there anything else I might be missing?

I remember seeing posts on this forum where people had trouble with DSD, and the issue was solved by changing DSD to DOP or vice versa. Unfortunately, I’m not a Roon user so I can’t give much help. I hope someone who knows more than I do will jump in. Good luck – I certainly enjoy the sound of my AirLens!

Yes I’m enjoying the sound too and I hope I can get this working.

Is the Airlens connected to the network by ethernet or wifi?

Ethernet

Certainly as good as it’s going to get.

Ran an experiment this morning. I hooked up an Audioquest Forest coax from my Airlens to my DSD Mk II. Using Mconnectcontrol HD on my iPad, I selected my library from my Auralic Aries G1.1 HDD and played my Octave Records Zuill Bailey Bach Cello Concerto DSD64 file. DSD reported DSD64 and everything sounds fine. Note I did have to do a cold restart on the Auralic and use its Lightning DS software to rescan the library to get it to register on Mconnectcontrol HD. So success is possible. Hope you find your digital gremlin! Good luck!

Great to hear you like the sound but a real bummer DSD isn’t working for you.

Mine played DSD64 into the DS2 via coax with its default of all switches up and the AirLens set up in Roon using default settings.

It sounds like you’ve done that too, so it could be you need PS Audio / your dealer’s help here?
