Any words of encouragement on WAVESTREAM??.

I wrote to Jesus and heard back already that the Orbiter has sold out its first production run and they will be gearing up for more. That’s why it was taken off the site. It will be back when more are ready to ship.

In the meantime I am so excited that we will all be getting Wavestream under our Christmas trees

WOOOOOHOOOOO.

Yes Paul, that was meant to egg you on to give us an update. HAHAHA

remember when it was supposed to be last christmas. Ahh memories

WOOOOOHOOOOO.

I think it is time that we may plant a tree. And when it has the desired size......

So I got my Orbiter yesterday and all I can say is WOW! Why did I wait so e’ffing long… I had a bit of an issue getting it up and running but Jesus was a pleasure to deal with, and frankly the issue was I believe self induced… the PWD doesn’t like to work without an SD card installed… I’d taken it out after pulling the Bridge and had’t put it back in, once back in it was super easy to setup, like 10 minutes! Jesus was able to remote into my machine and bingo… life is good

Logitech Media Server works a treat, ( it’ll be even better when I install it directly on the new Synology NAS) Squeezebox controller works perfect on my iphone 5s… I’m streaming from my NAS, gapless freaking works!!! all resolutions work 24/192 no issues, and I’ve got Pandora and all local radio and internet radio.!!! WooHoo

For a measly $100.00 more than the Bridge, I now have a system that works… What I don’t understand is WHY… why can Jesus make a box for $899.00 that does everything, and it just works and PSA keeps chasing it’s tail… Is it ego? or is it with all the time and money thrown at the Bridge and Wavestream and elyric and plug player etc that PSA can’t just admit failure and find a real solution… PSA really ought to just bag the Bridge hook up with Jesus and have him build a PSA branded box… call it the… wait for it… Silent Server and make everyone happy!

Anyway I really do feel bad for Paul and company, they have tried and tried and tried… it’s gotta be really frustrating for them …

As for sound quality I’m using a Belkin printer cable and throw away power cord… and frankly it sounds pretty damn good… I’ve got a good USB cable coming and I need to get a better power cord. So I suspect there’s some improvements to be had.

If you’ve been on the fence about what to do… I’d say jump over… the grass is greener

This is quite an achievement for the Orbiter.

I have invested in a music server (Lumin) for $8.000,- that is said to trash everything out there, but the PWD still have a slight edge on the SQ (being the one reason for keeping it, in comparison).

Whatever PSA decides to do, the SQ must not be jeopardized.

does the Orbiter hook up via usb or hdmi?

The Orbiter is USB, the Rendu is available with a i2s output as an option… I went USB since I think it’s the future… I also wanted to be able to consider a DSD capable Dac down the road.

Hi Frode… I’ve read great things about the Lumin…$8K is bit out of my budget though… does it work well?? I’m sure it sounds great…

It is very close to the PWD now after installing the Audiophile PSU from Kenneth Lau.
The somewhat muffled sound behind curtains has been removed to a great extent.
As previously mentioned the operational aspects of streaming and usability are of a whole different league.
So if the Logitech server/Orbiter combo can match the SQ I am impressed.

Frode I wish I could compare the Orbiter/PWD to a Lumin… all I know is that is that the Orbiter flat out just works…I spent all day yesterday playing 16/44 through 24/192 and Pandora, and local radio and never a hiccup oh and PERFECT GAPLESS!!!

As good as the PWDII/Bridge sounds when it is working well, I would be very interested in whether the Orbiter compares to that combo sound quality wise? Maybe I just haven’t heard enough alternatives yet , but the PWDII/Bridge when it is humming along possesses a clarity and analog like depth that i have not heard duplicated elsewhere so far. Maybe its the direct plugged in IS2 connection of the bridge without the USB or Spdif conversion and cables , not sure. Does the orbiter sound that clear and deep like the bridge does through USB?

Well I’d suggest that you maybe buy one and try it… It’s pretty fairly priced…

@erikm - I’ve suggested a few times that a co-branding approach would be really smart for PS. I’d love to see a server built into the same chassis as the NPC where it would have an drive bay but would work without a drive. Two ethernet connections. Headless and wifi accessible.

There’s no room in the NPC for another board and HD that I am aware of. We would certainly consider working with Sonore but I think Jesus is a bit worried we’d take business away from him.

@admin - I just meant to use that chassis but not to add to the NPC, which I see as a stand alone product.

Finally home after three weeks. Can you guys make a portable pwd?

I can add this , no matter what way we play digital music it is a music server . So why wouldn’t ps audio create one of its own, something that would work with many dacs . USB , network … And I am sure ps audio has the design capabilities to make it a good one. The one part that is missing here.

@ALRAINBOW

Please let’s make one step after the other. First we need a proper working remote app by PSA.

If you need a server, there are Vortexbox, several NAS etc.

And there are othern still not ready items in the pipeline at PSA.

Ok ok I am not badgering here just asking. I guess you must be one of the design guys hey!!!

Al

Its only a matter of time before PS Audio delivers the solution gapless through the bridge and it is stable delivering what we all want. I’m confident the new developers will sought this.

I’m lucky enough to be experiencing now what this solution will deliver in good time, I have right now through a minor work around with - JRMC with WaveStream and Jremote - all I do is have JRMC stream all files as 24/96 working very well

stability is very good

gapless is working

SQ is the best I have heard and beats the standard DLNA network connected server to Bridge

USB works in all respects does it not, I don’t use USB but understand it works well including gapless, what else is there once WaveStream is fully functional we are there

Yes, at that point we truly are there. Can’t wait.

Krell has a new server any one here try it yet ?
