We just all need to apply for Beta Tester status.
No not me , I love the forums and the products . But to a degree we all are beta testers , itās the forum here that make me deal with this. If I hAd other devices that were this well twiggy I do not think I would keep trying.
@erikm did you change out your USB and power cable? Any improvements if you did. And what are the cables. You still happy with the orbiter
gocubs42- Iām currently using a Audioquest Diamond, and a JPS Labs Digital X power cord⦠I borrowed the cables from The Cable Company, (friends of mine) Iāve bought the AQ cable just waiting on it since itās on backorder, and yes it sounds Way better than the printer cable As for power cords once I get my USB cable Iāll listen to a few others, although the JPS is very good. As for overall sound quality it sounds great⦠No complaints at all⦠Iām starting to play around with the dlna option, but I plan on getting a new Nas, so Iām holding back on SQ opinions there⦠but I can now use the Orbiter in dlna mode, with no computer on which is super coolā¦

Wait until you see what it does for a printer!
HAHAHA
I have one from them. It has a battery on it.
Thanks for the update erikmā¦after I payoff xmas, I want to purchase a USB cable for my Orbiter
I was not referring to gapless as my major concern. To me its the hiccups and freezes and going silent after a couple hours requiring resets to get it back that are most annoying. As far as the "maybe its the network or computer theory goes" , I use the exact same computer, network router and ethernet cable and just unplug it from the bridge and plug it into a $200 SB Touch and it will stream music nonstop without a hitch from my music stored on my computer or the internet radio stations until the cows come home without ever stopping for any reason. So it isn't like this is some far fetched dream.
I'm with Istack on this. I'm getting around to this post now because I had a bit of time over the Christmas holiday. I stumbled on the 'use jriver over elyric' by accident. My Bridge is ethernet-ed to a switch which is hard connected to a Mac & the NAS. Sƶn0s works, Bridge/elyric was/is patchy. I'm putting some work into JRiver, there is a limit on the hours available for trying something new. Frequent participants on the forum are likely people with time available or some results to enjoy, occasional forum visitors have to stumble on the current proposed solution. Something "that just works" doesn't need an active forum.
I am hoping for some great news from Paul about the Wavestream ānew directionā that he promisd to share with us from the Experts he was meeting with. In the meantime , i ordered an Sotm miniserver (Orbiter) to try not because of gapless which i could care less about, but because I want all the internet radio and new music and rock solid performance of LMS streamers They are hardened proven performers and watch out everyone because their sound quality is getting better and better as the open source community figure new ways to reduce linux processing load with Squeezelite etc. To read something interesting, check the Christian Punter review of the AudioAan Zee server connected to the PWDII on HIFI advice.com.
I donāt have a Bridge so Iām missing out on all the fun written about in this topic. My Touch/LMS works as well as those described by others here, but a āSilent Serverā type device is what I have been wishing for. Looks like I may go with the Bryston BDP which can play from drives directly connected or stream if one so desires.
Iāll wait a bit till Bryston release a stable version of āManic Mooseā⦠so⦠If PS can knock out a SS before then maybe I will go that route; I do prefer synergy.
Wavestream does sound promising ( use any player software ), but a box that plays my thumb drives sounds even better.
Maybe teaming up with these guys or at least using a similar approach (open source) would be a good idea for Wavestream and eLyric (or even the Bridge II outboard version).
Sad to see that all these PS Audio initiatives just dies one after each other. I know that the lessons learned have seen some steep hills ahead of them so maybe you have taken enough beating on resources and cost.
I had my eye on these guys for my next server project, probably a Cubox or Hummingboard platform. Low power⦠really low power. Agree about making the stuff open source if PSA does not see future development in Boulder. The better and more convenient the input is, the more people will get into digital. No one is intimidated by a DAC but the complexity and fickle behavior of servers, NAS, streamers and the player/tagging/how-is-ted-coding-the-fpgarol point software is a whole 'nother animal.
Is WaveStream still the solution to be āwaitingā on for gapless, or is a Bridge II now more likely? Also, I still havenāt figured out how to stream Internet radio, and I kind of miss that from the āold daysā with eLyric. Is there a good link/tutorial on how to set up my PSA DACII/Bridge / JRiver Media Center/JRemote so I can stream Internet radio?
Thanks.
Happy New Year!

PS Audio is going to open source both WaveStream and eLyric. I tried to open source WaveStream but I did not pull all of the 3rd party libraries out of the setup I posted, which I will fix in the future. It is on the list of things for me to do, but closer to the bottom, but I will get to it. If anyone wants the source code to either project, contact me directly.
