Anyone pre-ordering the FR5’s? Really interested but waiting to see some first hand in-home experiences.
Oh, yes, lots of preorders. We’re getting close to selling out the first batch with the preorders. Going to be quite the product launch.
Got a reasonable guess as to an ETA…?
Good luck, Paul.
Is it possible to see a photo of the F5 Crossover?
Seriously considering buying them but I don’t necessarily want to trade in my LS50s. I do love their sound.
The LS50 is a wonderful little speaker.
Feel the same way about my KEF R3 Metas. I have a feeling the FR5’s will have a more refined, more detailed sound. Maybe, maybe not, but worth a try I think.
Come on, @elk. You’re not selling speakers here.
Was talking about this very thing with my son…we had the B&W event at Hanson a couple weeks ago and I was telling him he needs to buy some 802s, but my plan was for R5s. Like an LS50 but more so. More KEF sound.
All that being said, the missus and I had a disagreement last week that saw my Sonos gear put in the closet. Don’t think I need to be spending on audio anymore. (She’s almost deaf in one ear and that makes it hard for her to have any noise in the background, so I spend less time listening to music than I would prefer. At least I have my work setup)
I’m not giving mine up.
You have Metas though, right?
Yes.
Just gave a pair of LS50 Metas to a budding audiophile a few days ago. He’s over the moon, best speakers he’s ever had.
Very kind.
Here’s a pic of a crossover from one of our prototypes. I had pulled out the large woofer inductor to tweak it for the final voicing, which is why some of the silicone and zip ties have been removed.
Here is an exploded view of the speaker. The crossover sits under the horizontal brace and there is a hold in the brace for the big inductor to poke up through it. This little enclosure is pretty jam packed with everything.
Neat!
I’m a fan of the LS50’s as well and you might notice some similarities of how we did a few things, like our bracing the woofer motor, CLD material, mounting the baffle from the back of the cabinet with long screws etc.
They look absolutely, if you forgive the word games, stellar. I hope you sell tons!!
Have not arrived yet.
Shipping should start this Monday.
