Don’t know if what I’m hearing is related to my actual personal mood (a psychological audiophile argument to be investigated I know I know) but wow, I’m playing my usual Dire Straits albums and the feeling is that this sound improvement is bigger than the one I got with the second fuse in pre.
The image is forwarded or a little bit pushed backwards (not so god) but extremely relaxed, musical, silent. Even less clicks and pops (what? How can it be possible?). I’m truly liking what I’m hearing. And I’ve just started since 2 hours!
No differences in volume this time, just more sweet warm caresses on my soul. You know when you want to listen more and more, when you wouldn’t stop playing music because you are experiencing the Beauty, the Calm, the Joy.
If there is a positive of at home quarantine is I get to spend lots of time with the M1 in my setup! The M1 is now on 126 hours and living up to the hype we all read about. When I first put in the P20 I wasn’t a believer but now I don’t have any regrets. I think I’ll wait a full week before I give purple another try.
It’s in its box waiting to go in the P20 probably on Saturday to compare to the M1. If I decide the M1 is superior then I plan on putting the Purple on marketplace for what you sold it to me for. It’s still a great fuse imo.
I tried it on my two pair of bi wired speaker cables for a total of 8 AAA batteries (4 per side) and the improvement is way better than I ever expected. In all honesty…I was not expecting anything!
I may experiment more…
What I’m hearing is a definite uptick in clarity…with a fleshing out of notes in a more relaxed presentation across the board… Kinda hard to describe… but it is making for a definite sound quality improvement.
Hi Ron. I believe in the post some peeps were discussing that very analogy. I don’t know why it works but in my system it really does. I may try it on my CD player too.
Oh, I just meant the hdmi that goes to my TV (it’s a htpc that hapens to be heavily biased towards music). I’m using a Furutech HF-X NCF for i2s, so a tuning ring there seems redundant in my case as well. It would be interesting to try on the inakustik cable. I still have to let other components burn in, but I still have a bit of 7050 left for after.
Apacer makes all kinds of ram. IDK if a NUC can handle ECC, but the AudiophileStyle dudes say that even non-ecc industrial wide temp Apacer is better than anything consumer grade. Take a look for your type on Mouser or Digi-Key, and find one that has a temp range from -40 to 95C.
I am now quite comfortable removing fuses from my Ethos. Tonight I reversed the direction for each of them. I hear no difference. Next week, most likely on the 4th, I am going to put the stock fuses back in.
The 3M absorber just arrived. This evening I’ll try putting a rectangular trimmed piece 10x21,5 cms (4x8,5 inches) on top of the P20 lid, centered to the display and no more than 1 cm (0,4 inch) floating outside the front angle. I’ve scrupulously read again all your posts and took a look at your pictures all over the forum.
I’ll share a pic as soon as I’m working on it and of course my immediate thoughts on the P20/P15 tweak thread, to let Elk relaxed (each post in its proper thread).
