Best expensive tweak?

You have to get one of these for your lovely cart. I’m surprised they didn’t throw one in for free. It’s weird to say I just enjoy using it.

I do have some generic (non-Rega) digital VTF gauge that works well but that would complete the package. You should see both the beautiful machined box and custom 0.4N-m torque wrench supplied by Rega with this cart. True works of art.

Those are the essence of vinylophilia. An utterly bizarre and irrational, but engaging pursuit. I’m off to listen to Basie at Birdland. Arrived yesterday.

So those are literally the ones I was using.

I admit I don’t have one of these (yet!), but I was just itching for a new topic to poke some fun at the vinylholics among us of which I might be one who needs rehab:

Cartridge Warmer – Mockingbird Distribution LLC

Everyone who spins vinyl needs one of these to keep that cart warm and snug during cold winter nights.

As I run tubes it would be redundant.

I demoed a pair of SabrinaX last weekend along with Vivid Kaya 90 and Stenheim Alumine 3. I thought the Stenheims and Wilsons were both quite remarkable.

I can’t stretch to the SabrinaX, but these are ex-demo Sabrina’s. They are very expensive over here. much more than the US.

Best expensive tweak is definitely my Cardas Clear Beyond speaker cables. Cost a mint, but WOW are they awesome!

Have you tried their Cardas Clear Beyond XL power cord? This cord advances their Clear Beyond remarkable performance to another level!! I have never heard a Cardas cable that can combine the extraordinary body and fullness with so much detail and resolution. One of the best cords I ever heard period!!

Clearly the most expensive tweak:

Less expensive in the long run.

I’m not sure this counts as expensive (more like extravagant), or best, but I just added an Sbooster LPS plus the Ultra add-on in place of the stock SMPS on my Netgear Nighthawk router which is wired to an EtherREGEN which is in turn wired to my Nucleus+.

I thought my system was quiet, and it is or so I thought. This shouldn’t work I thought, but then I decided “What the hell, I’m bored” so I decided to test the opinions of some other folks on other forums I follow who reported improvements in their already tweaked-out systems.

I find that I am listening at lower gain levels than before and still hear everything. Low level details on very familiar recordings that I never noticed before are now apparent . It also results in more realistic fine-grained textures on voices and instruments. Bass, in particular is tighter and better defined. Tonal balance seems unchanged. The soundstage is better organized and layered than before.

My next big tweak is much more expensive–adding a BHK preamp to my DSD. Should be delivered Monday!!!

Your sound quality and bass will substantially improve with the addition of the BHK Preamp!
