I changed every piece of my system last year less amplifiers and speakers. Fun stuff. But, the biggest improvement in home entertainment came in the video sphere. I’ve just fully recovered from cataract surgery and the new view is pretty stunning.
I knew things were not a clear as before but we are now back to high end video. Better resolution and color, all on a brighter palette. The jump seems greater than each step from LED to Plazma to OLED technology.
It’s nice to see again (literally) what I once had and now can enjoy it anew. A great way to start the new year.

Did I miss something?
Not counting amplifiers and speakers.
Ah. I misread.
How true! After my cataract surgery I was amazed at my new vision. A trip to Target blew me away. The colors at Target were so vivid. I couldn’t get over it. I agree with you. It is the biggest upgrade. Enjoy and Happy New Year
Hearing aids. I don’t listen to music with them in but they did retrain my brain in what’s missing which I loosely translate into EQ settings to compensate.
PMG Preamp
Wonderful to hear.
With my many hardware changes this was the most pleasing. Installed 300Mb fiber optic, upgradeable to 500Mb/1.0 Gb, at our seasonal home after having AT&T wireless for too long. Transformational in terms of reliability and sonics.
Stella P3 Power regenerator.
Snake River Takshaka speaker cables and XLRs. They’re keepers for sure!
My best upgrade of 2025 was a pair of Aspen FR10 speakers. I love the planar tweeters and mids. So transparent, “real” sounding, and non-fatiguing!
Pair of REL 31 subwoofers.
I also had cataract surgery not long ago. Brighter, more colorful, sharper, and clearer, higher resolution, and higher sense of depth images. Huge improvement! ![]()
But seriously, while all that is true, my best upgrade in audio is the Playback Designs mpd-8 Dream Dac. Before it was such a compromise listening to digital compared to vinyl. I have listened to Dac’s even into the ultra high end and none can even come close to the musically of my vinyl system. PD is a different animal. Not only can it compete, it surpassed my vinyl system in many area. I really recomend this Dac as an end game Dac.
Revelation Audio Labs cables throughout my system replacing Audio Art Cables Statement cables.
Purchased somewhere around July: I adore this piece. Love its effortless/warm sound, beautiful glow, and great looks. Plus, she allowed me to shrink my gear and open up my speaker placement in the room. A win across the board!
The Grimm MU2 without question.
Buuuut… The fickle finger of fate will have me selling the MU2 in 2026 in favor of a BACCH-SP adio…
I did good, got both Grimm MU2 and Gryphon D333 in 2025. Wait, was PowerZone bought in 2024 or 2025? Don’t remember. They are my endgame since I am not going to get to know BACCH anytime soon.
