Bridge-2 Beta Team. Please Read

It’s in the Beta test area and I think you’re now part of that. Let me know if not.

Paul I’m identified as a beta tester for the bridge II but I have yet to receive the bridge or a shipping notice. Should I expect a bridgeII. I hoping for the Bridge and not a lump of coal…thanks

I think you might have been missed and Elk sent your info and you were shipped on Friday. I think.

Thank you Paul and Elk

Guess I was missed (or unqualified) …sorry_gif

As you would expect, there were many who expressed interest. Unfortunately, not everyone who volunteered can be part of beta. :(

Today I visited Wolf in Germany. We compared the beta bridge 2 with the PWT and a Pink Faun streamer. It only took seconds to know the beta bridge was our reference for the day. So we needed some cable changes to get the PWT and the Pink Faun streamer near or at the high SQ level of of the beta bridge 2.

I think the new bridge is going to be a new SQ reference! 41_gif

Now that is good news. But as much as liked the PWT it’s sound never was a reference quality for me.

But it sure is convient.

alrainbow said Now that is good news. But as much as liked the PWT it's sound never was a reference quality for me.
I think the PWT realy can be a reference when the right I2S cable is used. I do not own a PWT but today I could hardly hear a difference between the PWT and a Pink Faun streamer. We could manage to reach the SQ level of the new bridge. Still there were slight differences audible due to powercord influence. The new bridge has the advantage to not being influenced by powercords or I2S cabling. -:)

I wish I could agree. I own it and pauls ref hdmi cable with others With any outputs I never felt I got the best sound from it. I find it funny as paul uses it to demo his dacs. Now being this is closed forums it’s how I feel but it’s not something I would ever say In open forum. Maybe the one I have is just not right. Many claim as you it’s really good and I am not hear to say you or anyone else is wrong. Way back when I bought an offramp 5 before building severs as it was the best sound for me with the pwdmkii. Now with the DS the sound is very good with almost any computer and the off ramp collects dust as the off ramp hurts the magic of the DS Dac. The bridge even in beta is actually very good in sound as for me the usb beats it but it’s close now this is worth a expensive sever . So the bridge is marvel with the DS dac . Paul has a winner here for sure. And even in beta it does play fine only some minor noise here and there. For me this new bridge is way above the other in performance .

I understand it is hard to say in general which is the new reference because every system has it’s own specific needs. But after some tests in 4 different systems it is clear to me which parts are good and which are very good. Today I heard that A pink Faun streamer and the PWT using the same cabling can sound the same for let’s say 99%. Which is good because it tell’s me that streaming from a network (and the use of software like JRiver) and reading a CD into memory for the PWT could be the same. I mean the same on a system that makes a slight difference easely audible. Forgive me when I say that the reference PS audio I2S PM12 can be beaten. I own the cheapest model I2S of Pink Faun and it brought I2S to a new SQ level for me. Make sure your I2S cable is short 1 meter for the maximum.smile

To reference means what you feel is the optimal sound and its used as the reference to listen to others and compare. There is no wrong to feel one is better it’s still your preference. Nothing more . To me the DS is damn good dac. As my rerenece room is being built it will, play there with my own IRS V speakers. For me to play it there it must mean it’s oretty damn good.

I would post pics here but it’s something I have not figured out how to do as yet.

Al

Agree!

I look forward to the pics. and I’m curious how your system will sound. The IRS speakers I heard are great!!

I have had them for years but as they sounded great. They were not really setup correct. Pauls room may have some concessions but few. And his years of experience are way beyond me. I have read plenty and asked a few really hi end people I trust to help. The room is built for the purpose . Hardwood floors over concrete to insul board to ply wood and them finish wood. The walls are two by four but 5/8 Sheetrock and then 1 inch marine plywood on felt and with screws into the beams. All the walls are.oke this then the Delong is a hung type but on ISO clips and wood as the walls. Finally some kind of fabric to make it look nice. . What a pain to do. And it’s expensive.

One day I would like to meet Paul .

al

Wow!

I think I would like to meet at least two people now! Realy great!

Hahahha. Thus audio hobby can lead to meeting some fascinating people. When it’s done I do plan on meeting a few.

You too are welcome. Over the summer my wife goes away for summer in our home in north CAROLINA. I had a few audio buds over .

Inhave beenpretty much a loaner all my life very few people . This hobby and my last racing changed that. It’s about the only two times I can say I actuallymlooked foward to meeting people.

The last three weeks I was way too overloaded, so missed this thread. If there is one EU beta place left, I would be happy to participate.

Ah, I see, too late ;)

I’ve just found interesting interface for squeezebox towards services as Tidal, Qobuz and Wimp named IckStream (developed by former squeezebox people) - http://wiki.ickstream.com/index.php/Main_Page

It would be terrific if Bridge2 would support this :)
