Bridge II update?

Funny but it is a somewhat unconventional numbering system for version numbers.

Agreed that it would not necessarily have hurt to designate today’s Bridge II firmware update as v3.7.x to minimize confusion. I recognized v3.6.17 as numerically higher and later in time than v3.6.2, but I gather that some people might think of “.17” as lower than “.2” to the extent that “.2” registers with them as “.20.”

Stupid question, how do I access device settings on the mconnect app on my ipad? I’ve powered off the DS a couple of times now and now prompt to update. I have version 3.6.2 and it says up to date. I’m on my ipad on the mconnect and can’t figure out where to go to update the dac. Appreciate any help. It’s going to be a “doh” moment, I know. Cheers!

Hi Open the app and touch the Gear at the top left. MControl > Gear > Device Setup > Tap Bridge II It should prompt you for a new release > follow the prompts and it will take a while to download and load.

Thanks! When I click the gear the options I see are cloud setup, sort tracks, Gapless, and App Info. I don’t see the option device setup. I can use the app to play just fine, and must have used the setup at some point but it is not appearing now.

Device setup is the first choice on the drop down menu. It’s not seeing your bridge. You may have to go through the setup process for the app and have it find your bridge.

@cardri What “bait” do you think I took and how did you know I would take said alleged bait (whatever it is)? It appears that you were so busy laughing and dropping smiley faced emoticons that you missed post #99, above:

Check to be sure you are using MControl and not MConnect. Same company, similar in name and appearance but I learned the hard way that they’re very different apps.

MControl is the correct ap for the DS Bridge and in the gear drop down menu the first option is Device Setup.

Select it and you will see the DirectStream DAC. The update option should appear.

I have the MControl App on my iphone but when you open it the graphics say MConnect.

You guys are brilliant! I was using the mconnect and not mcontrol app. That worked. It took all of five minutes to update and now it says 3.6.17. Cheers!

I mentioned because I know some software engineers who drop the last zero.

For example, 3.6.2 actually means 3.6.20.

@Leonard RIght . . . As I wrote in post #125, above:

Yup! A version number of “3.6.3” would have been much clearer, in my opinion.

mcontrol was the magic word :+1: thanks

Until now I always used mconnect. mcontrol finds the DS at once while with mconnect it always takes several minutes. But now I notice that mcontrol doesn‘t play highres when I use QOBUZ, what I almost always do. Does anybody now, if that is so with mcontrol? Do I something wrong?

Any ideas for those of us that wouldn’t be caught dead with a crApple device?

I updated the Bridge II firmware with the mconnectControl app for Android (v2.4.0).

Buy a notebook and a walkman.
