testing to see if i can post… my ID and password log me in but the display name shown is “katherinee”, and when i try to change it back to Bob, I get an error message that says that Bob has already been taken - which it indeed was, by me.

I had a similar issue. I was able to change my display name to busterfree1, but I would like it to make my original name (busterfree). I also lost my original start date and post history. I guess start date and number of posts are right.
Same here (only the names are changed to protect the innocent)
The main forum page recognizes me as johnjen (Welcome johnjen - in the upper right hand corner of the main page)
But all of my posts are now assigned to haltermr and that is the user name listed in ‘those who are currently online’ and not johnjen.
As is this post, which is assigned to haltermr.
Just further confirmation of the user list befuddlement.

Sorry, you probably know this but there are two places to edit your profile. If changing the screen name under My PS/Preferences doesn’t work then try under “profile” at the top right of the Forum display.

But under the ‘profile’ button I’m haltermr
I tried to alter it to johnjen but it didn’t ‘take’.
I’ll try again, just to see what happens.
EDIT: it comes back with the ‘user name already in use’ error…

Can my account be fixed as well, please? I’m supposed to be “Alekz” with ~2800 posts, not Bad, with 850. It’s not about the amount of posts, but about something wrong with the accounts besides the nicknames.

Add to me to the list of people whose display name is messed up. It is suppose to be Murrayb but I got the “already taken” message and put in Murrrayb (one addition ‘r’). Would be nice to go back to Murrayb. Thanks.
Same problem here. Last week I fixed the log-in discrepancy. Today, its back. I am not who you think I am! Who am I?

Happened to me too… seemed more like a Hack… anyway back to normal, but of course I’m now a “newbie” with zero posts…
OK. Just re-restored my screen name. If you go to “Profile” and you can’t update then go to My PS/Preferences. If you see your “real” screen name in it’s respective box then click on the drop down arrow at the end of the box. If you see your screen name repeated in the drop down, then click it and hit “update.” Should work.

Thanks - this recovered my screen name as well! Only issue is I have been demoted from “community leader” on the old site to “newbie” on the new site. This is a not insignificant blow to my ego.
