Cheap Tweak... using aaa battery's!

Just tried this on my speaker cables and the XLRs into my BHK Pre and BHK300s as well as Ethernet to streamer. If it’s placebo, I don’t mind at all. The noise floor seems lower. Cleaner sound. I’ll leave them in for longer and see if my initial impressions hold.

Wait until you try using the MFSL gold bread ties. Wow!

It is fun, harmless, and we can discuss it with a bit of humor.

Yes tomhail…I defend my use of this seemingly hard to believe and oh so cheap tweak… I found this on the Audiogon forums and gave it a spin to see what all the brouhaha was about! This is not some magic fairy dust that costs an arm and a leg to try…just a tweak that happens to work for me and my ears!

And yes…my rca cables use gold and silver in their construction. Contact Steve Brunelle @ Gabriel Gold cables if you want the skinny on his cable line!

Thanks Elk. I don’t have a problem with discussion and experimentation. I also like to see the humor in things. I’d like to not be offensive or taken as offensive when enjoying this forum and it’s many quirks. I don’t take myself too seriously and like to give that same courtesy to others. My main point that I failed to make was that taking this as satire or as an innocent and fun suggestion should be the choice of the responder. I didn’t care for the scolding of some on this forum for assuming this was satire. I mean absolutely no harm -I just wanted to know the true intent of OP and others. I am still unsure. But I’ll read on to get some clarity.

Cool and thanks for the clarification. I have no issue at all with the suggestions and can respect a no-cost experiment / suggestion. I can also see how this at face value could have been satire, and a very good spoof on our crazy hobby. Either way. I can now enjoy the thread without confusion or bewilderment. I do encourage others on this thread to give some slack to those who initially interpreted this as satire, and to those who wish to contribute a bit of comedy of their own.

Respectfully, Tom

I have no problem with satire, or things said in jest. But jumping to conclusions and suggesting someone is a troll, because said tweak does not compute, despite someone’s subjective findings, goes over the line.

You can always use the cables as storage for AAA batteries.
Also, resonances of the cable can be dampened by attaching the batteries.

I had a pair of Sag’s laying around and attached those to the rca cables of my current dac. The result sfeer some breaking in seems to be a more open and powerful sound.

Come on, don’t be afraid, nor sceptic, give it a try and let us know what you think of it!

I tried this tweak. I went to bed with Transparent Reference speaker cables and woke up and they had turned to Transparent Opus. Fantastic!!! :clinking_glasses:

I had Transparent cables once but I kept tripping over them.

I was thinking about skipping the AAAs and using a battery charger instead . . .

The joke is on me. I’m moving on now and hope to have learned my lesson. e.g. when someone states something that I interpret as being insincere or simply silly (the earth is flat, tinfoil hats prevent aliens from reading minds, playing Simon and Garfunkel will permanently ruin your HiFi equipment), I should first ascertain if the person is joking or not before joining in the apparent satire with the rest of the gang.

Spent sometime this evening trying the battery tweak. There’s definitely some kind of interaction talking place when the batteries are in place, although in my system it seemed to slightly skew the frequency response, but not in a good way on some of the recordings I was listening to. Ended up removing them. Every system is different, so I think it’s worth a try.

Going to have to try the battery tweak again as I just discovered that the batteries I used were just about dead. After trying them in my system I used them in some remotes and they stopped working the next day. To be continued.

It seems Duracell Optimum gives a smoother presentation thnn Energizer Lithium, which is airier on the top in my system. Personally I prefer the Duracells.
