No apologies necessary. I had pulled mine before you got to it. I come here to escape politics.
I noticed that. Thanks!
Agreed! Appreciate your vigilance…
So Greta isn’t welcome on the forum? She’s got some harsh words about tube amps, fortunately they’re mostly in Swedish.
She is quite character, as is her father.
Has she actually opined on tube amps?
For any of you concerned and unable to get hand sanitizer, here’s the World Health Organization’s formula to make your own. To be approved/effective, you need to be 61% alcohol by volume.
Washing your hands is the most effective, but that’s not always an option.
Tools
Measuring cup
Measuring spoons
Whisk
Ingredients
3 cup of isopropyl alcohol (no lower than 70%)
½ cup of aloe vera gel (natural or store-bought)
15 drops of tea tree oil (or another antibacterial essential oil)
-
Pour the alcohol into a medium container with a pouring spout. What type of alcohol you use in this formulation will depend on how abrasive you want your hand sanitizer to be—and what you can find at your local drugstore. Again, any alcohol concentration above 60% will do, so if you only find 70% isopropyl alcohol, you’re on the right track.
-
Measure and pour the aloe vera gel. Alcohol can be hard on your skin, so using aloe is a good way to counteract that effect and keep your hands smooth. If you want to keep things natural, you can use aloe vera gel straight from the plant without worrying about it going bad—the alcohol will act as a preservative. However, you will need to keep in mind that natural aloe gel is thicker than its store-bought counterpart and will thus affect the final product differently—it will make your hand sanitizer more sticky, which means you’ll need to rub your hands more times for it to fully absorb.
-
Add the essential oil. Tea tree oil is naturally antibacterial, so it makes sense to use it here. But if you’re not a fan of its smell, you can use another type of essential oil, like lavender, lemongrass, or eucalyptus.
-
Whisk. To fully mix all ingredients, stirring won’t be enough. Get a whisk and beat that hand sanitizer into an homogeneous gel.
-
Sanitize your spray bottles and pour in your hand sanitizer. Spray some of your leftover alcohol into your bottles and let them sit until the alcohol has evaporated. Pour in your sanitizer.
-
Label your containers. You don’t want any accidents where you or anybody else ingests your newly made hand sanitizer. Take the time to label your bottles. Continue living.
Rumour has it she considers class A SET’s a threat to humanity. She has a point. If everyone had one the planet would fry in weeks. Maybe Paul could commission a battery powered class D amp and call it The Greta.
Hah! Steven, you need some correction on two of the “facts".
- Guns are what keep us safe from guns.
- Global warming is happening but it’s not our fault.
Are you joking?
In the UK it’s even harder to find a gun than an audio show worth attending. Even our local militia don’t have them, so when the lower classes revolt we just have to read the Riot Act and throw lumps of horse manure at them (it being biodegradable and recyclable).
With regard to global warming, you need to consult with the former keyboard player of D:Ream. He will convince you otherwise.
p.s. As a collector of conundrums, it should said that Britain’s favourite astro-physicist was formerly a keyboard player, whereas Britain’s favourite rock guitarist was formerly an astro-physicist (and recently completed his Doctorate). My son’s girlfriend studied physics with said keyboard player in Manchester, her father being a banker, but formerly … an astro-physicist (a serious one - counting little things whizzing around at the CERN lab in France/Switzerland).
The irony of said keyboard player being the next best advocate in the world for global warming after Greta is that he teaches in Manchester, and was born nearby, a town that created the Industrial Revolution but where, after the rest of the world has fried to a crisp, will still be cold and raining.
“The mind boggles!”
SXSW just cancelled. It’s just a matter of time for AXPONA at this point either through lack of exhibitors or direct cancellation.
I heard this yesterday evening. The impact on businesses, especially hotels and restaurants, will be immense.
…and Airlines.
You can get great deals with Frequent Flyer miles these days. My Aerospace conference got cancelled in Long Beach next week too already they are talking of pulling plug for San Diego in May. Wife and kids were going to accompany. We decided to travel and spring break anyway. Damn the hysteria.
They have had 4 exhibitors cancel(at last note, one of those being from China)…over 200 I believe were registered…I really hope it still happens and I hope Paul and the crew will be there…
I hear China’s nice this time of year.
How many people are washing their hands properly? I know I haven’t been. Should be using a technique similar to a surgical scrub. Time to up your hygiene game.
Unlikely we’re going if it’s going to be held in April. It’s not safe for our customers nor our people. We’re hoping they move it to the summer, but that’s nothing we have control of.
