Darren Myers now with Parasound

Let each just take their favorite light bearers.
I know for myself that I’m not done yet, starting with my third thirties, perhaps with less bagage then ever and lots of experience in good and bad examples. :grinning:

This has been a big change in the world. Pre-orders!

Not in my world. Pre-orders is getting the customer to fund manufacture costs and wait … and wait.

It’s got so stupid that Nissan keep on asking me to sell them my wife’s car and order a new one that they can’t deliver.

I do concur, but perhaps it’s in good taste to get back to celebrating Darren’s new goals. Prost!

I’ve interfaced with Parasound’s repair department twice and both times were smooth as butter. It was a little old world, yet efficient, in that I spoke with an immensely knowledgeable repair technician each time, directly.

Big loss for PSA. Those shoes will be tough to fill. I wish Darren all the best.

Does anyone have a sense of similarities or differences between Parasound and PSA house sounds? Care to speculate how that might evolve with Darren at the wheel?
I’m really interested to watch their product strategy unfold.

I disagree, PSA made a very big statement if you pay attention, they put the Stellar Phono Pre on sale!

If we are heading down rabbit holes, this should be an interesting question.

I only have PSA DACs and only have Parasound amplifiers so it’s a tough one.

An aspect of PSA DACs I find attractive is how they tend to make some of the terrible sounding, early digital recording, orchestral music sound so listenable for hours and hours.

I own and enjoy several products that Darren had a role in designing and/or developing. I can only wish him well in his new endeavor.
-Just my two cents.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they bid a fond farewell internally

They’re a kinky lot in Colorado!

Not much to say here other than I was of two minds: pretty bummed to lose Darren, but extremely happy for him and his new career.

Darren had been working on the R and D side for more than a year and developed for us a new preamplifier/line stage discrete amplifier topology that is killer – and we will be using for years to come. He also developed a companion amplifier topology that too will set the direction of the company for many years to come.

We love Darren as family. He’s not leaving the area and remains part of our family.

We wish him well.

Nicely said. I suspected you’d have a classy statement about this. You’re a good guy, Paul!

Thanks, and as I have mentioned earlier, we work several years in advance and while his leaving was a surprise, he left us in great shape for the next decade. Darren’s job was as forward thinking circuit designs and we have going forward all the new topologies in place for a new phono, power amplifier, preamplifier, and Stellar DAC.

Now that the topologies have been designed and vetted, the engineering team needs “only” to implement them as we do over time.

So, we’re in great shape for the next decade and Darren’s still family and has not left the area or us for lunches and dinners.

Oh boy you just generated at least 5 new threads. :confounded:

Always a good thing when you part company with full support!

So he’s still in the area, is he working remotely for Parasound? As best I can tell they are based in San Francisco. Not a good housing market to move into …

I think everyone at Jewel knew when I got my command. And each promotion. Moms…

Dang! Take a couple of days to go skiing and miss all the action … .

I was kind of secretly hoping that Darren would become Nelson Pass’ next “Wizard’s Assistant.” (referring here to his help-wanted ad than landed Wayne Colburn). Like Nelson, it seems that every new design of his is destined to become a classic.

Although following in John Curl’s footsteps is also a BIG deal.

Congrats, Darren!

(P.S. - he cleans up nice, doesn’t he?)
