I feed MK2 with local files in DSD and PCM, as well as Qobuz and Tidel from my streamer without issue. Then I played DVD recordings of DSD/PCM through PST, and they played fine. Reading them from PST still took as long as before. So, the issue was with PST, not from DAC. The good news is that so far, the files, streaming, and discs I played all worked without any issue.
The first hour the music sounded closed-in, and four hours in it is slowly opening up. It is hard to walk away from it now. No question it is a major improvement from DS at its early life already.
The major win for me a few days in is that - so far at least - I don’t care about that with the DS2. I put something on and simply forget about “evaluating” anything. Or Audiophile playlists. I’m listening to Music again rather than Equipment. That is a quality I look for in gear. It is a blessed relief, frankly. Sorta doesn’t matter what I’m listening to.
I mean - sure, I can list in detail the things I hear with familiar recordings, though they tend to be consistent with the overall/general observations. But to me the track-or-album-hopping, “Oooh, how does THIS sound?!?” thing is often associated with being captivated by one or the other sort of “shiny new thing” that a new component presents. Often those excite at first, but then grow stale over time.
Though this is not to say that I think, “It might be interesting if we post the reference recordings used when we are really leaning in and evaluating.” is a bad idea😝
I know what you mean; I had it for a few hours and I can see myself in your La-la land in a few days! I do not remember how many and what albums I threw at it so far, but I did not find any that I did not like better yet!
calord here in Boulder……picked up my DS II Thursday and I’d like to second The Beef’s sentiments. I’ve been so busy enjoying my music that I’ve had no time to report on the new box!! I’ll post more detail about what I’m hearing and my associated system components……But, Dyamn!! I’m just enjoying my favorite music all over again!! Wow!
My future report will end with my summary phrase: “The music is so much In My Room!!”

With some serious single malt, I am in la-la land easily. But I promise no drink when reviewing the MK2 
I want to report the first software glitch I found. After playing DVD data discs, I put back a CD to play. There is no sound. MK2 read 44/16, but no sound came out.
I rebooted the DS and thus far there is still no sound. Has anyone tried this yet?

I have been going back and forth all day without any issue and no ticks when switching.
Were you using USB? If so the problem might be upstream of the DS, e.g. the USB driver on your source getting wedged. If you were using USB turning all USB devices off and (after they are all off) powering up again might solve a problem.
If USB wasn’t involved there’s no place in the code of the Mk II that saves state across power cycles (the FPGA can’t since it is dynamic ram, and the UI code only saves a simple state of your options) so I’d suspect hardware. Turning the DS off for, say 20 minutes might make a difference.
I was using two I2S from AQ for both PST and Streamer. Now I could not play any music from any source. I will turn off MK II for 20 minutes and report back.

I know, I know… beta testers have to report all they are noticing to PS Audio in order to let them complete the MK II final release… and I thank you all guys for this job… but my emotional side is so anxious to read your thoughts more about sonically impressions!

This only happened when I moved from the DVD disc to the regular CD, with other media switching, everything was fine. I hope it is not a hardware issue.
I agree with this entirely. There’s definitely the enjoyment, toe-tapping, dancing in the kitchen factor that has to be part of the eval. But, there’s also the part of me that wants to lean in on really quite nights and really listen to note decay, speed, etc…
Per your instruction, I turned off MK II from the back and unplugged the power cord. 20 minutes later I turned it on, and the music was back on. PST is playing CDs, and streaming is fine too.
So, there may be a software glitch. I can play data using streamer and switching to others fine, but from playing PST using data discs and switching to CDs was the problem. Hopefully, it is an easy fix. I do not know if anyone else has used the exact method and had no issue.
If we ignore your needing to turn things off for a while:
I suspect that there is a semi rare problem with the automatic input select using the PST and having other active devices connected (especially coax or TOSLink). If you were using auto input select and it was indeed your problem, hand selecting your inputs would work around it. I have a probable fix that I’m testing, but I want to be really careful touching the input select code. Still this isn’t likely an issue if there’s something weird in the hardware.
