When I scroll down, I only get the earlier versions of firmwares, not the 179. Maybe my USB connector is broken. I hd a little trouble forcing the 3.0 USB stick in the first time to load 2.3.3 and 178. Is there other ways to load these things, my PST can use wi-fi to load.
For me, 179 appeared at the top of the list when choosing one to load. Checking if it has in fact loaded seems to involve arrowing down. They plan on WiFi/ethernet loading, but it is currently not implemented, AFAIK.
You maybe stuck returning yours for repair. First I would pull it and look at the USB port with magnification for bent or broken pins or debris The straighten, clean, deoxit.
I think other methods of load will require new firmware. So fix it yourself or return.
Make sure you moved files to root directory individually. If you dragged to another folder they will not work or in the folder Aaron mailed. My wife made that mistake. She was on computer so Zi had her transfer to USB. I then checked and they were in folder on USB. After dragging to root it was smooth sailing.
I only put that one 179 file on the USB stick. Is there a way to load the previous firmware to see if it works.
I loaded both .bin files including image.bin and 179.bin into USB. I use a USB2.0 drive too.
The control processor firmware is simply āimage.binā If you have an image.bin on the USB stick thatās different than the one in the DAC it will be installed in the DAC.
The āfpga1_ā¦binā files should show up in the FPGA Load menu and you can pick the one you want. If there is a āfpga1ā¦_auto.binā it should be automatically loaded after a power on boot.
I loaded the 179.bin only on a USB2.0 stick, but it doesnāt show up on the FPGA load menu. How can I test if the USB connector is broken?
Try a different USB stick
Just being pedantic, but was the file named āfpga1_179.binā or ā179.binā as you wrote? None of the files should ever be renamed.
The file says [fpga1_179_Antero.bin]. I have not changed it.
Apologiesšš» but it is Friday afternoon here. Please ponder the size of the subset of the beta testers who are Fuse Fans. Iāll admit that perhaps Iām in need of Scotch.
Tweaks are tweaks and should be in the modding topic. This topic should be very narrow and only focused on the stock beta unit.
This of course is IMHO. Itās not my intention to alienate or criticize the folks having fun tweaking.
My apologies, I will repost to appropriate thread!
Same here. Tweaks and mods are great for the subset that are into it. Ted seems to be good with them, which boggles my mind - as it is complicating the issues here, IMO, but there ya go.
While Iām at it, Iāll confess my ignorance, since no one has 'splained it to me: Who is jkrichards? Why is he allowed to sell stuff on the Forums? Happy to be proved clueless in this instance.
Unless someone is willing to start a separate mods thread, it wonāt happen now. Itāll certainly happen later. I asked Elk if he would be so kind as to do so, and he declined. I realized that based on long experience, he knew that would not result in directing such posts to that thread.
EDIT: Mods Thread: Modding DirectStream DAC MKII
My sentiments exactly! I have no interest in reading posts where the ābeta testerā has botched the DS MKII.
For the record Botched was not started by tweaks but came from the factory that way.
This beta had more than the usual share of HW and SW issues.
This is why, for me, adding to the confusion with mods & tweaks, and the ongoing pronouncements about the effects of mods & tweaksā¦they have no place in this process.
On a separate mods thread? Knock yourselves out. Iām not immune to modding myself.
Good taste Lagavulin is my favorite closely followed by Highland Park but I am having a Margarita as I type.
Just a note, we did get a separate modding thread going: Modding DirectStream DAC MKII. It seemed to result in the beta thread being more beta focused today. Other than all the whisky (I think you call it, whiskey) comments today, about which I took no notes whatsoever as I only had eyes for the FR30s in the pictures.
