Ah - I haven’t seen that - where is that picture?

It also shows the selected input.

Ah - I hadn’t seen this - this, amazingly, makes me feel a lot better.

I know this question is a huge can of worms, but what streamer would you use with this?

Pick any streamer you would like. All will work just fine.

There are oodles of posts addressing various streaming options. I suggest not going down this path in this thread yet again, especially as you have raised two issues to address already.

Being a longtime loyal PS Audio fan… just buy it… and be happy with your decision. :beers:

I am going to start out with our Sonore Signature Rendu SE. It’s fiber Ethernet in and USB out. I will also test by putting a Kitsune KTE SU-2 between the Rendu and the MKII to test i2S input to the MKII.

Hopefully the AirLens will closely follow the MKII and you will have another streamer choice. But as Elk states above there are streamers for every budget. The choices narrow if you want i2S outputs from the streamer.

I like having a separate streamer myself - more flexibility . As for the screen - maybe the new one has reduced noise and can carry the main info in the space.

Used to have an Aurender then I discovered Roon on a friends advice and switched to a Pro-Ject stream box s2 with matrix and LPS - very happy now

There’s some conversation about streamers in this topic and in a few other topics here on the forum as well.

@dschamis - if you haven’t already, you might want to follow this topic:

And here:

Haven’t read thread yet, only title, but on first impression I have to say I’m opposite of OP – I’m more impressed than disappointed with what I’ve seen of Mk2 so far.

Edit: For context, before this sub-thread was moved into current thread by the moderator, the thread title at the time I posted this was “Disappointed with what I’ve seen of Mk2 so far” or something to that effect.

Perhaps when @Elk has time he will move this conversation to:

Of course I have no idea how much work it is to consolidate topics. I have never administered a Discord forum.

For the record, you guys are making some good points - I just changed the title of this thread to be more on point and less misleading.

While it’s true that there will never be a component that satisfies every persons unique preferences when it comes to feature sets and UI (I happen to massively prefer the MKII UI and no thanks on putting noisy streamers in top flight DACs)…

This DAC is blowing my MIND when it comes to SQ. It has taken my system to a level I never thought was possible - from a digital or even an analog source. There is a gut punching confidence with this DAC that hits you with an absolute immaculate top to bottom coherency and tonal “rightness”. The palpable 3D imagining, layering, and noise floor “blackness” is intoxicating. I’m swimming in a dimensional room of sound with a big smile on my face over here and everyone that I have shown my system to since installing it has pretty much flipped out, including Chris.

Ted has hit it out of the park on this one people. I’m serious.

I cannot wait for people to hear this masterpiece!

It’s reasonable for some to want a single box that does streaming and DAC, for simplicity or space constraints or cost or whatever. If that’s you, just get one of the many fine available options that do this - they won’t be PS Audio, but that’s fine. For example, if you want one box with beautiful display and lower cost, check out HiFi Rose as one example. I don’t have experience with it, but I’ve seen it in stores and if aesthetic beauty and big, impressive displays are high on your list, that one looks pretty good.

But as many have said, if PSA had to pick one route to go, I think they picked the correct one by separating the functionality out. I’m more interested in a standalone DAC that I can pair with a streamer that has the control UI and features I want.

Thanks @Elk!

I had been using Bridge2 in DS for one year and was never satisfied with the SQ in comparison to CD playback. I then used a separate streamer and removed Bridge2. It was a revelation how much SQ improved. Although it is still not as good as PST playing SACD, I am enjoying streaming music more now for sure.

Darren,
Is this the Wilson Sasha DAW, BK600 and BHK pre system or another?

Yup - there’s a pretty good chance that that is what will happen.
