DirectStream DAC MKII Released

Unfortunately the shortage situation isn’t going to get any better anytime soon.

Gary, I would expect the supply situation to keep getting better as long as there is not a major covid flare up or some other extreme long term disaster. I do, however, think that the higher cost of materials will be with us much longer.

Fed Ex showed up but it was the Iconoclast SPTPC cables. The Mk2 is supposed to arrive today as well but they are notoriously a day late. :man_facepalming:t3:

 Hopefully we have better luck tomorrow!

I certainly hope so, but all signs say otherwise.

I got my beta DAC shipping notice and the expected delivery is on Monday. It is going to be a long weekend. But I will still do my happy dance!!!

I will be waiting also and mine is suppose to arrive on Sunday. I’m sure that will be changed to Monday.

:frowning: still waiting for my shipment!!

Just re-read the original superb mk1 postings…that should hold you over until the mk2 arrives!

The FedEx in Sacramento lost track one of my package for a week last year

I can’t remember if or when it was said that the mkII would be available to the general public?

The MK2 Dac is available now.

Time to call my dealer!

I do not believe that it is for sale just yet. The Beta has only just begun this week.

I’m sure if one has cash in hand and they called PS Audio a MK2 would be available.

As of last week, the answer to this is not yet. I called to ask when orders would be taken, and got that answer.

is there a typical time period between start of beta and full release ?

I don’t know about typical, but the idea is to get a bunch in people’s hands and see what shakes out in terms of real-user, use-case based UI or HW issues. So on one hand, there’s no way of knowing for sure. I’d think a minimum of a month, but @Paul might be able to refine that.

Based on Paul’s and James’ inputs earlier, it’s about a month after Beta test is done.

That sounds right. There are 100 beta units. They will wait until those are tested in the field, then build the next batch. No point in building more until a reasonable amount of real-world testing has been done.
