I lift all inputs except the two i2s ones. I have to do more comparisons to say for sure.
Also we found the same Wi-Fi antenna wire just dropped across the board. I will never use Wi-Fi with this thing. Number one too hard to enter and two I have Ethernet right there. So I took it out. Can put back Easily.
I did make the mistake of doing this 3 days after new pre amp. But I wanted to let it burn in while I was out. So far it seems nice. Soundstage seems a bit taller.
I had no trouble setting up the WiFi (and Iām not good at this) and it sounds greatā¦not ready for a long ethernet cable and getting holes drilled in floorā¦
Guys, This is really bad news. Were you and sixpack beta testers? Are these beta units? ( I was a beta tester. )
Is the only way to detect this is if you do not here a change in the sound when you go from grounded to lifted? These ātabsā that break loose are metal ( correct? ). The idea of having loose metal in a box with live circuits really worries me. Brian, Will you let PS Audio know what you have found when you call them to get a new tab?
I believe Jeff said he liked his inputs grounded If I recall correctly. You could always use a shorting plug unless It becomes clearer why i liked one i2s better than the other before I went USB.
I do need another so I will be letting them know. @Paul has anyone reported this? Inhave to call for a few things. I will try tomorrow. If not while in FL later this week.
Jeff reported this a while back. Only PSA knows if they have changed manufacturing to account to either cut the piece or move the ground over 2mm.
Unless someone is super careful they will come loose.
I had all audio input grounded, and set on Auto. I had audio output grounded but only shell is lifted. I liked the SQ before the Massive Mt., and I have not tried other setups after the update. The sound seems nice.
I accidently set the volume on fix, and I forgot how to change it back to adjustable. Can anyone give me a quick pointer?
In the menu system, go to Audio Output, Fixed Volume and use the up or down arrows to set it to zero or Off.
Thanks! Now I remember too. ![]()
OMG I did the same. When i got my new I wanted to move Iād down from 94 to about 88. I could not. Took me 5 min to figure out.
Yes I was a Beta tester but there have been no changes with production other than they are now adjusting the position of those tiny ground tabs. All of mine were intack but the plastic around the i2s inputs did prevent them from doing there job. I took care of that and expanded the contact points on the back panel so all contact properly. I suggested that instead of the location specific paint mask that they should go to a wide strip similar to black electrical tape so there would be no specific target points to line up. The over spray occurs when the pieces get powder coated. I re routed the wifi antenna cable along the back panel. It does not travel anywhere near any circuitry and is shielded so it really is a non issue anyway. I donot use the wifi and it is disabled. I do not connect the ethernet cable as the off the air update is not currently functional. When they enable it I will only connect the internet to update and than unplug it.
Looks like a capacitor to me.
I assume you meant ābothā vs ānotā. I seems to remember JK posting about this as well. If I still had a MK2, I would open it up and look for this issue, the paint isolated ground and oddly placed WiFi antenna.
Yes you are correct. I have fixed. It was an easy fix and I see how it was missed. They fit but people pulling and wiggling their hdmi cable out of the socket would push on it and pop goes the tab.
a EMI Filter capacitor on incoming AC then? Usually those are more square than long rectangle.
Sixpack, How do you now they changed the position of the tabs? And when did they do this?
I was told by a tech at PS Audio. I have no idea when they did so though.
Thanks.
Well thatās nice for the new customers, but are they going to do something for the ones that have supported them in beta and early adopters?
