Moving around in the menu is very clunky! Whenever I want to back up I just press and hold the menu button to get back to base.
This is what I do. I have found no way to “go back”.

Shouldn’t there be a switch to reduce this hot output or is this the standard? This might sound crazy but couldn’t one put a diode in series to slightly drop this number?
The same section of the manual also references “PS Audio’s matching PerfectWave AC power cords”. Don’t think PSA sells those anymore.
? It is an option to configure the RCA to be 4VRMS instead of the default standard 2VRMS.
I’d like to hear more from the designer(s) on the analog stage design, associated power supply(s), etc. and how they were updated to capture all the digital improvements Ted Smith has provided for. It seems from Ted’s interview they have nailed the digital side, and may have a bug or two to address, ticks and pops.
Are you talking about the Mk II? I am the designer of the boards in the Mk II. I did implement the USB receiver section and the Ethernet section to PS Audio’s expectations, but everything else is from my head, my schematics and I laid out the boards.
I put in FPGA code to notice that an input had gone away (which the DS ignored) and that ended up having the unexpected side effect of some ticks and pops, but those will be going away with the next FPGA release.

Yes, I should have been more specific with my question, DSD Mk II. I assumed as the thread title was directstream-mk-2observations that specifying which unit would be rather redundant. I’ll dig through the referenced thread as well. My understanding has been that the power supply(s) and analog output stage design was by “other” DSD design team members.

Is it prudent to engage all inputs and outputs to “lift” to have the entire dac galvanically isolated even though I only use USB? and balanced XLR outs. Are there any downsides to this? Does anyone know why galvanically isolated isn’t the default?

No, I’d start with nothing lifted, get the system working and get used to it, then try lifting the analog outputs and possibly the XLR output shield, then play with the input lifts. It’s all very system specific (based your preamp (if any), your amp, your digital sources and other things, even possibly on the layouts of your cables in the room.)
Figured that—as I’m waiting on my DS MK2 to arrive—I’d read the manual. Curious how liberally to interpret this point:

I’ve got my gear neatly arranged in a Hi-Fi Racks Podium XL rack. P20 and BHK 250 on the bottom, BHK pre and Linn Uphorik in the middle, Linn LP12 and an open spot on top for DS MK2. That leaves 18" or so of separation between DAC and amp—is that enough separation between the two?
External magnetic fields fall off pretty quickly. I’d interpret the advice as suggesting to not put it right on top, underneath or next to something that uses a lot of power.

My DS MK1 has left the building! I am now going to be completely digital-free until my MKII Ships and arrives in 3 -4 weeks or so. I won’t be able to directly compare the MK1 with the mkII, but am really excited to hear Ted’s latest creation.
Truth be told, after you hear the MKII you really won’t be interested in comparing it to the MKI. The MKII is significantly better in every possible way.

It’s really not like a linear upgrade from the MKI to the MKII. It’s more of a logarithmic upgrade. Congrats!
