They are giving $3500 for trade in of a DS DAC Mk I toward a Mk II. The Remaining Product Credit of $3399 will stay on your account as credit that can be used as trade in credit toward the future purchase of equipment.
The general trade in policy offers up to 30% of the new equipment price for trade in of any used equipment that is in good shape with credit for the original full MSRP of the item(s) being traded in. The trade in offer for a DS DAC Mk I toward a Mk II is nearly 44% which is very generous.
PS Audio modified their trade in policy this year to allow you to carry over any unused trade in value toward a future purchase. The screen shot I posted is from the DS DAC Mk II trade in page. Here is the link to their trade in policy page.
“If your trade-in item has a larger MSRP than the credit you were provided, that value will be stored on your account for use on future purchases. To access this available credit, you must be logged into your account for both the original purchase and new purchase. The PS Audio team will evaluate your balance credit and approve it for future use. Any questions just give us a call, 1-800-PSAUDIO.”
Great news,Its already on the website at my local Norwegian dealer but I need to check if it could be ordered…high price though…10 000$ converted from NOK!!!.Perhaps too expensive as a Christmas gift for myself ?
Great to hear the DS2 is up for orders! Let the good times roll
Should be a very exciting 2023 with the DS2 and AirLens reaching customers.
edit: and it includes the trade in price and carry over value which should allow the AirLens to be bought effectively for free with a DS1 trade in. Wow! And it seems postage is available worldwide. Hello !
For those not doing a trade-in, and in the absence of an internal upgrade path, I have to imagine that the market for DS MK 1’s is going to be miserable for sellers.
In that regard the Mk1 should be considered a huge success. For those who’ve had one for 6 or 7 years, the annual cost of ownership relative to what they paid is probably very small. Some hifi seems to halve in price as soon as the box is opened, an expensive hobby for inveterate box-swappers.
