Of course mountain lions and wolves love elk, their true carnivores, unlike humans, which are herbivores.
600 hrs into the MKII and blown away every time I turn in on. Many friends have come by for a listen during beta testing and will be ordering now that it is live.
Had my old Traeger for years, so I thought it was time to upgrade. Got the new Timberline model, and itās a beast. Breaking it in now with a 16lb brisket and ribs.
I will be right over. Beer or wine?
I just ordered one of the DSD MK2ās. Trading in a MK1 using their generous trade in allowance makeās it a no brainer.
I know some here spend more on a couple of power cords than what they are charging for the new DAC.
Congratulations! I think you are going to be very happy.
Listening to this now, it sounds fantastic!
Thanks. I like the smaller format and not having a display I think is one of the reasons it is better sounding (quieter). Iāll put in the system with the 300ās and it will feel right at home.
Anyone had any luck with Signature Audio Systems in the UK? I tried to ring to find out but Kevin came across very aloof and would not even confirm I had rung the correct number.
Thought the display is less noisy, that is the least of why it sounds so good. It is a complete redesign that is vastly more complex and superior to the original DAC.
As much as I like the MKII, the display is a let down. Itās a three year old design that in my opinion shouldnāt have been reused. Itās far from premium. Now that itās behind glass doors in our cabinet and I can operate it with Control4, I donāt mind it as much.
And they were able to get it done while dealing with a covid related broken supply chain. I think the global JIT system is now permanently broken and we will be making a lot more stuff locally and as Martha says āthatās a good thingā.
I have a $250k machine sitting still since Dec 05 waiting for someone on the planet to make the failed circuit board mounted widget. This is the second time the machine has had the same problem. The last time was 2020 and parts were available overnight so not much to worry about then.
I also have another machine sitting unusable due to a failed switching device. We ordered a new one from the big C on Nov 30. It finally showed up yesterday and it is the wrong one. So two machines down waiting for the supply chain to fix itself. Grrrrrrrrrrr.
Itās not a problem at all for me as I keep all of the displays turned off if possible. I use Roon as a control device so I dont need to look at any of the pieces in the rack. It would be nice if the new DAC had an addressable user interface via the web.
And speaking of supply chain issues: I saw in Paulās Post today that PSA has āa few dozenā Mark IIs available for purchase.
Iām not in a position to order one right now, but was planning to do so in March or April. I hope that, after the current production run is sold out, it will not be months and months before they have additional units to sell.
Buying anything today via mail / web / phone order is a crap shoot. And nothing commercially available today has any āuser serviceableā parts inside. In other words if it breaks you cant fix it.
Iām not sure if that is advancement or not. Things certainly fit in smaller packages and devices are āsmarterā but are they better? Ah dunno.
Bummer. I assume machines down mean issues for your customers. I hope this turns around quickly for you.
I read about this espresso machine the other day. Itās an interesting concept. Perhaps if more companies adopt this philosophy weāll have far less waste and less going into landfills.
Yes we had to move some deliveries out to āunknownā time but they are understanding as we arenāt the only supplier with spare / repair parts unavailable. They have plants in 60 countries and managed to make it thru covid ok so far but I truly feel for them.
We are making early production and post market parts for prototype prices so I know they are putting money in every box with a lot of their parts. Many of their worldwide suppliers either disappeared or fail to deliver for mostly covid related issues.
Itās a big ole mess 2 years on and I dont see it getting any better.
The way most machine electronics are today thereās no swapping out parts from a different supplier unless they are very simple parts like transformers or mechanical bits.
Ha! I had a bit of Vecchio Amaro del Capo after Christmas Eve dinner. Buon Natale, amico mio!
Amaro must be one of the best held Italian secrets. Itās one of my favorite things to drink in the evening. We have a decent collection. Sibona, Lago Maggiore, and Nonino are some of my favorites.
Closed eco-systems seem like a good idea if you are a manufacturer. But we see the results in times like this. It will be interesting to see what manufacturing gets pulled back in the name of national interest and supply chain concerns.
