Dreaming Streaming…the NA Tempus worth it?

Short answer…it depends.
I’m still a fan of physical media but the Tempus closes some of the gap. In fact, sometimes it’s better, especially if the stream is a well recorded, hi-res nugget.
The muon Pro has long been in the system and the Tempus follows along its path (literally) by doing more of the same…scrubbing the noise so the music comes thru. It has no characteristic, per se, but rather makes the audio image more focused, palpable, real. It gets out of the way.
So the Tempus is a keeper, but a little bird, Luca, told me that it also responds to good power cords,
from the Stealth line. I took off an early vintage Shunyata and put in a Stealth Cloude Grande LE.
The improvement nearly equaled the Tempus insert. Damn.
So, the Tempus, like seemingly everything else in this hobby, is another “unnecessary” box that adds to the goal of making digital sound less like digital. Worth it? It may be hard to rationalize, especially if you double the price with a good power cord. But it does have “CGB” quality. If removal of the piece from the system causes sadness, re-insert the device. Can’t go back.

Are you receiving an optical signal or using the standard LAN RJ45 to connect to your network?

Enjoy.

I keep seeing CBD when I read this.

Maybe CGB has the same type of healing qualities the only difference is you get a mild high? Lol

Route is 1Gig fiber>router>muonPro ethernet cable(fixed)>muonPro>Stealth>Tempus>Stealth to MU2.
This runs contrary to my usually “less is more” credo. With streaming, it seems more is more.
BTW, Network Acoustics will soon release a router power supply called Origin. A forum beta tester says it’s pretty good.
More black boxes!

Thanks for the update, I completely agree with you, unfortunately…

Thank you.

Cheers

I would put the MUON Pro after the switch.

Me too.

The Tempus is really amazing. The improved MK2 hybrid power supply makes it even better and you could also upgrade the fuse used (I went for a SR Pink which) and of course better power me cords help too.
I would also recommend isolation like Graphite Audio which further improves things.

Had a chat with Network Acoustics at High End Munich about the Origin which should be another exciting device for router/modem/switches - and should be available very soon.

Yes, the switch is in front of the filter. I was concentrating on showing the direction of the muon Pro and got the horse and cart mixed up.
The muon Pro is flipped in favor of their fixed cable being in front of the Stealth ethernet cable.
This is opposite of the factory recommendation.
I like the sound of the Steaths over the NA cables.
Newer muon Pro boxes do not have a fixed cable on one side so you can put your favorite cables on it.

I have Stack pucks under the Tempus. Did not notice a difference but I wasn’t listening for it.
Do you have any show info on the Origin? Cool if you don’t.

Someone hit Solution on my answer up above. That is a very bad thing to do here.

@Elk , can you fix that?

The said they invested the last couple of years researching into the best suitable approach for a power supply for their Tempus switch. The findings of this hybrid power supply along with their own multi stage DC noise filtering is what will benefit massively to other routers/modem/switches/FMC/streamers too. So they are combining the clean power of the best linear supplies with the speed and dynamics that only SMPS can provide.
Price wise it should be attractive to everyone seeking an upgrade for their audio setup in that regard.

Thanks. I was aware of this development history. I thought they might have pre-released pricing and voltage and connection options.

Ah! I think voltage offerings range from 5-12 volt but I hope I remember correctly. Think pricing and connection options should be out any day.

Now also got pricing info: £1.495

I am drawing a line in the sand. No Tempus for me. I also drew a line in the sand for Schnerzinger. I have the Grid Protector. It is not leaving my system. But I am stopping there. The rabbit hole is bottomless. I am not actively searching for new rabbit holes. Bacch, Grimm, Gryphon, My Sonic Lab, Network Acoustic MUON PRO, REL, Stealth, TechDAS and Vivid are all I want. Ethernet improvements are something I have zero interest in. Zero, Zip, NADA. YMMV.

I hear you - and had wished that the steaming age would be as easy as it has been with CD, or even simpler. But unfortunately things got really tricky and streaming is here to stay. So what I realized (quite shockingly to admit) over the years is that there is a massive potential to use or loose.
You definitely already got a great setup - and still regarding Ethernet it’s crazy what cables, filters and switches can do to unlock what a system is capable of.

I wish that were true for me. It just hasn’t been proven to me in my own system. After adding the MUON Pro.
I stream more than anything else. At least 70% of the time. It sounds great!!!
I credit the Grimm MU1 and MU2 for this.
