Why doesn’t a 1 to 2 channel mapping preserve the bits? Every other player does… The DS (FPGA) itself doesn’t handle single channel streams. (I don’t know what the bridge does with single channel files.) Perhaps Roon does do the right thing with mono files and something else is applying volume or something…
There’s no reason in principle we can’t provide stereo bit perfect test files. Bits are cheap these days. I’ll send some to Paul.
[Edit - well I’d sent one in the past, but it’s not there now. Since the aiff file is 4 x as big as the flac and 192k file is already 10meg I just sent a stereo of the 96k test. PS Audio will have to tell me if they don’t work well with the bridge (IIRC that’s why the 192k file is sooo big.)]

Thanks @tedsmith
In parallel , can you ask your Bridge II team who handle Roon Ready certification, if they can test your mono 24/192 test file at their end, to see if they can replicate my issue?
Another question for all, is has anybody been able to run Ted’s 24/192 Bit Perfect test with Roon and Bridge II , successfully?
The green check mark is what you are looking for… The bridge screen is a little different from the rest of the UI so I don’t know exactly how it’s layed out.
. . . I didn’t intend and I’m not interested in the internal politics.
It is not a matter of politics, internal or otherwise. Ted is not responsible for the Bridge in any way. He also is not an employee of PS Audio and is not under any obligation to provide support for its products.
Instead, Ted is graciously volunteering his time (a lot of it) answering our questions about the DS itself, which he developed. We are very lucky to have him here.
If you have problems with the Bridge, please post in the Need Help? Got a Problem? subforum, or give PS Audio a call/send PS Audio an email.
FWIW, Just ran the mono bitperfect test after updating the BridgeII firmware and did not see the checkmark. Downloaded the stereo bitperfect test posted by Ted above and see the checkmark along with the word bitperfect next to the checkmark. I have been running the same JRiver/BridgeII setup for a long time. The mono bitperfect test always passed! Now it doesn’t! The two major changes to my system since last running the test is Huron and 3.3.3 BridgeII. Nothing changed, that I know of, in JRiver.
Dennis can correct me (I don’t run the bridge) but I believe that the 24/96 mono test never ran correctly on the bridge - the 24/192 mono did. The bitperfect tests on the download page have changed to stereo - I don’t think the 24/96 stereo will work with the bridge, but I’m not sure. The 24/192 should.
Thanks Ted. I’m 99% sure I got both mono tests 24/96 and 24/192 to work at some point in the recent past, now neither do. The stereo 24/96 works fine. I’ll try the 24/192 stereo shortly but see no reason why it wouldn’t pass as well.
P.S. All three stereo bitperfect test files work perfectly. Neither of the mono ones work at this point.

The 24/96 Mono bit perfect test never ran consistently, sometimes you could get it to run, but most of the time not. The 24/96 Stereo test runs consistently.
