The point for me is that the combination of Roon and Tidal worked fine with Redcloud. That’s why it’s a PSA issue whether the problem is in Snowmass, the bridge, or how they interact.
Tidal is the only streaming service that I use. I have no idea if it’s an issue with other/all streaming services when used via Roon.

Any response to all this from PS Audio? Recently bought DSJ and have held off on Snowmass due to it’s stumble with DSS.
FWIW, I have a DSJ and primarily play local hi res files (PCM and DSD) with Roon/ HQP over USB. I’ve not experienced a single DSJ freeze and I upgraded to Snowmass early on.
And its fairly easy to switch back to RedCloud if need be.
You are using USB. However, many of us have problem with B II here.

dancingsea, I don’t have any problem playing local files either. It only freezes when I try streaming Tidal via Roon.
@shaft234 Same here. Files on the NAS play fine using Roon. Roon / Tidal not so much.
My DSjr has locked up 2-3 times since I updated to Snowmass.

Why no official reply to DSJ freezes, yet home page “celebrates” Snowmass? Does PS Audio have too many irons in the fire (production backlogs, Snowmass, new server, new top end DAC, speaker, recent move)? What is one to think? Still waiting for Snowmass for DSJ v.2 (or at least some word from PS Audio) before uploading.
It seems to happen, as best I can tell, from a few Bridge installations but it’s not something we’ve seen a lot of and we’ve never been able to duplicate. I wouldn’t let it concern me as far as whether or not to upload and upgrade.
I will ask our director of engineering to chime in. Perhaps he has another viewpoint.

It happened to me about 5 times now. My music files are on the Melco machine/minimserver, connected to DSJr/Bridge II with ethernet cable. I will try USB connection to see if freezes still occur.
@Paul, I sent a PM with an offer to use mine to test with. It freezes fairly regularly (at least 2-3 times a week).
No problem with USB. Just the B II. 100% sure it’s a software bug.

I experienced the freeze with Snowmass and an older bridge firmware (3.5.2 I think…). I upgraded the bridge to the latest after experiencing the freeze. This didn’t fix it.
Seems there is a compatibility issue with Snowmass and the bridge… and not just the latest bridge firmware.
It would be interesting to hear from people who are on the latest bridge code, but running Redcloud.
I just spoke with Matt, our engineering director, and you guys are right. There is a problem and we have a code fix. I’ll have it posted this afternoon if possible.

Hopefully it will fix the loud pop when tracks are stopped in Roon, happens on the latest official Bridge II update. Going to 3.6.2 (the one with art issues on the DS) fixed that on the DSJ. But concerned that applying the freeze fix code will bring back the loud pops, like really loud tweeter destroying pops. Its a known issue also, have interacted with Jeremy over it - others as well.

my DSJ is also freezing regularly since I have upgraded to Snowmass, exaclty the same symptoms described above in the different posts (track progressing, but no volume control, no possibility to switch off other than hard reboot with back button).
I am only using mconnect control HD streaming Qobuz, or Jriver (server on my PC).
Never happened on Redcloud.
I have the latest bridge version 3.6.17.
I was supecting a bridge mconnect bug.
I am glad PSAudio teams are aware of it now and trying to fix it.
It is very annoying, I looking forward to hearing from PSAudio when the fixed version will come up.
Maybe in the meantime we could have some hints “do” or “not do” during playing to prevent or delay the freeze, if you know where it is coming from and what is the trigger.

@rouky On my system it only happens when streaming from the internet as is the case with most others I think. There is usually a small “click” heard in the speakers when the freeze occurs. I think at that time the bridge takes control of the DSJr while waiting for something to happen.
Here it never freezes up if playing from my NAS thru the bridge. I do get it to wake back up sometimes by pushing the mute button on the remote. Other times it needs a power cycle to wake back up.
I see that they have isolated the cause and will post a solution as soon as it is proven out and available.
As another bit of strangeness I installed a new Roon Nucleus+ on Thursday and haven’t had the freeze occur since then. Dang computers anyway.
