DSD MK2 Latest Mountaintop update! - Mount Blue Sky!

Did you remove the USB stick (just an off-chance suggestion)?

Yes, after the update
I power the unit off from the back switch, took the usb out and power the unit.
on. The unit sounds good, I just noticed when I went into the menu settings that it doesnā€™t let me choose anything after System/ backlight. No IR, no FPGA menu or factory reset.

This is what it looks like on the USB drive. I just stick it into the back of the MK2, turn off the power from the switch on the back of the unit and turn it back on and the standby button on the front should start flashing.

Thanks for this. I tried it in list view and you show in your post but Iā€™m still getting the message ā€˜USB drive not foundā€™.

All of my MK I updates went as smooth as silk. :man_shrugging:

I have best results with small (less than 16GB), old USB2 (not USB3) sticks, formatted old-school as FAT or FAT32.

Dear PS Audio, kinda brings up the pointā€¦ When the heck will OTA updates function for this DAC?! Does the latest firmware finally deliver this? If not now finally, then when?!

This upgrade sounds so good. It made me wonder what some tube-rolling would lead to and I rolled driver tubes and rectifiers. . . and ended up preferring where I started from.

Curiosity satisfied for the moment.

Man this is a good sounding release.

You cannot unzip that file. It is already unzipped if youā€™re reading that.

Okā€¦. The blue sky update caught me off guard. I wasnā€™t expecting to have something new come out. Iā€™ve actually not even been doing listening to 2ch music for a while; just been working on other hobbies.

But man, I updated and let it run since yesterday, about 24 hours out. Now Iā€™ve been stuck on the couch listening to different tracks. This is the best soundstage Iā€™ve ever heard. And thatā€™s in a sub par room. Harmonics seem to resonate longer (or maybe thereā€™s a quieter background?). Something sweet about the presentation. I keep wanting to hear this or that song.

I feel like usually there is a bunch of hype around a release. Since I havenā€™t been in the forums much lately, this is an extremely pleasant surprise and makes me solidify my trust in PS audio and their promises. I was happy with my DSD Jr, but decided to upgrade because of the trade in and trust that it would continue to get better with time. Boy was a great decision. Well done Ted and team. Happy happy customer here even when the hifi hobby was dying down.

Well, between the new firmware, and the trade-in program, I just ordered the Direcstream IIā€¦officially off the fence!

This is awesome firmware upgrade, noticeable quieter background, excellent sound stage, micro-details, nicer overall for both SACD and CD playbacks, I am sure will get even better with more hours; Excellent holiday gift from PS Audio team, thank you!

I was at the airport on the way back from Hong Kong when I checked email ā€¦ and big news! A new DAC2 upgrade is out. Started reading some initial comments ā€¦ and was getting eager to get the upgrade installed.
Once home, before unpacking, I played some familiar tracks/excerpts so I could hopefully identify some improvement after the upgrade. I installed Bluesky. Thanks @aaronm for the video posted - the upgrade went flawlessly.
I played the same music again ā€¦ and wow! I didnā€™t expect quite the upgrade! Better bass, louder, more detailed, cleaner, clearer, and also - a bigger soundstage!
I then got my wife to sit down, my critical listening partner!
I told her about the free upgrade just to remind her.
I played the track the she was very familiar with.
I saw her turning her head to me 10 seconds in with a look of surprise! I ignored her till the evaluation piece was over.
She literally was amazed at how much improvement there was with this software upgrade.
It is literally like a new DAC! And not even burnā€™t in yet.!
Wahoo!
Thanks to Ted & PSAudio team!

Been breaking in the update all day and now playing the (Louisa Amend Quartet) from Octave Records track 8 ā€œInvitationā€ and Wow! So live sounding and the drums, oh heavens, what a kick! It donā€™t get more live than this. Actually the whole album is a mind blower. So is it the album or the update, oh I think itā€™s both.

Couldnā€™t agree more!!

Was Ted involved in this update? Iā€™m used to seeing his numerous comments and havenā€™t seen any.
