Woo hoo! Amazon just informed me that mine is scheduled to arrive on Saturday.
Mine arrived at the dealership today and is on its way to me. A bit of a change of plans though. Despite my email a couple of weeks ago changing my order to the standard edition my request was somehow lost in the shuffle and those are all now spoken for. All right with me as Iāve been waffling back and forth almost daily. Looking forward to listening to the Master Edition in my system. Christmas in, almost, July for me!
It seems right that YOU have the Master!
You are right. What was I thinkin!
I got my ES A6 via Amazon yesterday. Since I am going out of town, I gave it to @paul172 to check it out.
Thanks to @aangen for suggesting I should give it a go. Streaming virgin no more.
Welcome to the streaming world, and you will soon find out the streamer itself is only a small part of the streaming āblack holeā!
I donāt know how big if a black hole streaming is. I am guessing for a lot if people the DMP-A6 will fill the hole nicely. Roon isnāt required, the A6 can stream many, if not all available streaming services. I believe a Qobuz subscription and the A6 could be endgame material for all but the most dedicated āI need to spend lots of moneyā people.
I would hate to own a $10K+ streamer and pit it up against the A6. Oh wait, I do and I did. Never mind.
You crack me up
I just spent $5k on a streamer that replaced a $3k+ streamer within a year. So, I am spending way less than $10k+. Wait, if I include PC, USB, switch, and another USB I just ordered. Darn I am jumping into the $10k club. I think I need another Dragon PC in the streaming chain somewhere soon.
You have not included your fancy cables into your streaming chain either. Like I said, it is a black hole for some.
Some of us get a vicarious kick out of watching other people spend the big bucks. Hearing about it is almost like spending it ourselves, but without the sticker shock in our own bank account. Thatās a win win in my book.
Or a $20k streamer. You know which one. Same as me
So mine is arriving tomorrow and of course I am swamped. Going to a congratulatory launch party at 4 at the bossās house. It always goes this way. Maybe Iām always swamped. Lol
I think the DMP-A6 is a really great gift for a female that isnāt all interested in tech. The phone app is pretty swell. She likely will be fine with the DAC.
Itās ideal!
Iāve had my Master Edition for a couple of hours now. Thought I would share a few things from the first hour or so. The āQuick Start Guideā included in the box is a joke. Big waste of resources printing this out. Luckily, everything is pretty intuitive and was streaming Qobuz wirelessly with my iPad within a hour of the truck arriving. Getting used to the app is going to take some time though. Everything is just hunting around and just trying to figure it out. Not too bad just not necessarily intuitive.
I can tell right away that sound wise this is a big step up from streaming straight from the iPad. First impressions is that bass is tighter and correctively proportioned now. Hearing better transparency and depth as well. Going to take my time with this. Havenāt tried listening to the internal DAC yet. But, first impression is- what more could anyone want from a streamer?
Received my Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition two days ago. Purchased from Summit-HiFi in Canada. Highly recommend this shop. They went above and beyond finding this hard to find item and got it to me in Florida very fast.
i have a PS Audio Directstream DAC MK II as my primary DAC. SO, my intent is to use this Eversolo for Streamer front end only. Primarily as a Roon endpoint.
I have both a Node (model 3) and an iFi Neo Stream for comparison.
Initial impressions using USB output into DSD DAC MK II are clean, low noise PCM up to 192/24. Beautiful display that I can actually SEE across the room (Unlike the iFi NEOās).
Truly Roon Ready.Streaming audio is considerably better than Node. Standing up nicely to the iFi NEO so far. Main missing piece is clearly the fact that iFi has I2S and Eversolo does not. Will continue listening and burning in Eversolo before making any final comparisons.
Now, one significant wrinkle.
I own a lot of DSD music. Primarily .dsf files stored locally on solid state NVME storage. I have DSD 64, 128, 256. The Eversolo will ONLY play DSD 64 and DSD 128 cleanly (and only via DoP). As soon as I play any of my DSD 256 files, the Eversolo outputs significant audible noise along with the audio. This makes these files unlistenable. Eversolo specs indicate they handle up to DSD 512.
I have opened a trouble report with Eversolo. No response so far.
Stay tuned.
It seems the Eversolo is Very responsive to power cords. Thought I could make do with a second tier power cord I had but nothing doing. Using my better cord rewarded me with advancements in every way. Better bass, detail and delicacy. Soundstage opened up further as well. Guess I will need to order another power cord. Never heard Qobuz sound this good! As a streamer I am overjoyed. Listened to a couple of CDs with the internal DAC. Canāt say Iām very impressed. Admittedly, I didnāt give it a fair go as I only listened for a hour or so but it sounded a bit on the warm side. Soundstage wasnāt too bad but it definitely lacked the dimensionality and air that I am used to with my Benchmark DAC. Somewhat closed in. Smooth through. Couldnāt hear a lot of difference using different filters. It deserves more time for sure. Iāll definitely be delving deeper into this DAC issue but, so far, I would have to say if the differences between the standard and master editions is in the DAC section than maybe it would be wise to save the money any go with the standard. Time will tell. But purely as a streamer this thing just kicks serious butt.
I have DSD256 files on the internal M2 drive and I heard no problems with DSD 256 playback with mine.
Are you referring to the internal DAC? I havenāt listened to anything in DSD.
He said DMP-A6 as streamer to Mk II
