Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition

So, there has been an interesting turn of affairs on the Roon Ready ‘certification’ of the Eversolo DMP-A6. Eversolo has now removed Roon Ready from their website for this device. It appears that they jumped the gun a bit, and claimed certification based on the fact that they do produce a device called the Zidoo Neo S, which DOES have Roon Ready certification. Now, they are saying it is ‘pending’ Roon Ready certification.
This is where ethical actions on the part of vendors is important. PS Audio could have pushed the Airlens out there, and said ‘pending’ too. They chose not to. They are holding back the release for that certification, even though that will clearly cost them money and possibly customers as people on this forum have chosen other products…like this Eversolo DMP-A6.
For myself, I use ONLY Roon. So, this was false advertising from Eversolo. I bought this in good faith. It is NOT certified, and I DO care about that. I would not have purchased it if they said pending. Now I have to deal with a return to the dealer and potential re-stocking fees and/or shipping fees. Not cool.

Yeah been there. I bought the Matrix Mini Pro 3, had sticker on it and everything. it was out and took about a month for the certification to follow. I am sure they will get it. But as we know there is quite a line and long wait. My guess is they thought they would get it and made them. not going to let them sit in warehouse.

Paul probably does not want to make and wants all parts on hand before he commits to the first orders. He is not about the bottom line (I am sure at some point he does care about it) but he does not run the business like that.

Very interesting remarks from Roon on their forum site. They actually call what Eversolo did here “nefarious”. See link, EverSolo DMP-A6 - #101 by Steven_Wilkes - Audio Gear Talk - Roon Labs Community .

My DMP-A6 works just fine with Roon. I dont care if it is certified or not. It works perfectly. I don’t understand why certification is such a big deal if it works. I suppose it could be made to stop working but I believe that is highly unlikely.

You might want to consider putting it up for sale here. No restocking fee, no hassle, it should sell quickly.

From the Roon founder

“In this specific case, we’ve sent a few rounds of feedback, they still have a few issues to sort out but they jumped the gun. These issues involve very loud and dangerous pops when switching between certain audio formats as well as sync issues in multi-room environments”

Very interesting. Sound familiar doesn’t it.

He did say they jumped the gun and they have been back and fourth. So they knew what they were doing. They shipped free demo units to all the big hitters on yourtube and off they went to selling out. How marketing has changed these days. less than 10k in hardware and shipping and they sell out. Zero advertising.

That being said I am still confident they will work it out.

It is advertising. Just in a newer way than the old codgers (like me) are used to.

A great word.

It is a great word. But, not mine. That is a direct quote from Danny on the Roonlabs Forum. He seems pretty fired up about this.

Or flip it here or on USAudioMart. With pent-up demand, someone may grab it and not be offended by Eversolo’s misrepresentation of Roon Certification. Others may choose to pass.

You have yer options, and you make yer choice; to certify or to not to certify that is the question. I agree with Al, post it for sale clearly stating Roon certification is pending.

Says a bit about the market in general and possibly more to the point audiophiles.

We are all guilty of falling for the next big/pretty/hotty/poppy thing in life.

I’ve been learning to resist that impulse when its knocking on my noggin.

It’s an insteresting path, but harder to do than I first imagined.

I blame Al. I was thinking all hype until he said it was great. Then I had to join the fun. Got mine today hooked up. No roon issues but took a few times fit it to see MKII on USB.

With its app I don’t need Roon. Roon certified or not it’s not a issue for me.

The point is it does work even w/o. Which is probably why they released it. Roon wants as close to 100% working and I am sure it has a few bugs. But it does work. Just did mine. Roon found it faster than it saw the MKII. No idea why it could not see the MKII was connected via USB. not sure what finally fixed it. reboots of everything.

Did anyone else have issues it finding MKII USB?

I am awaiting the first @aagen certified cat/rabbit/dog barrier that doubles as a comb filter providing for absolute sonic room mode correction, aka ASRMC. No wires. no fuses just unfold the free standing comb filter fence. Avaialble in various colours. I understand purple has sold out, and the Master has been temporarily withdrawn awaiting final certification and seal of approval.
