I used the power cable that came with the DMP-A6 when I used it in my main system. I am guessing it sounds better than Pangea. Now it has a proper power cable. It seems nice.

Please provide to what degree it is better, in percentage, please. Kidding. Better cord = Better sound.

I can make no claim as to any sound enhancement the power cord upgrade made. At home, in my main system with a 15 cent power cable, it sounded nice with all my fancy gear. At my lake home, with a proper Shunyata NR power cable and $259 Wireworld unbalanced interconnects into an Onkyo reciever driving KEF LS50 speakers, it also sounded nice. I don’t think the cabin system is nearly as resolving as my main home system.

Ya know.

But people who use Pangea cables are exempt from having to mention them by name. For their own protection. Just say ā€œI don’t believe in cablesā€ and leave it at that. Any difference you think you hear is imaginary.

True statement. To think I almost bought a couple of those Pangea cables when I was getting started. Looks like I dodged a bullet there. (Thanks to all the many audiophiles who have been so generous with their ā€œoldā€ cables. It made my life much easier.)

I’m not sure I understand the jest of your post. It was trying Pangea power cables that actually made me a believer in cables. Started with the SE and the improvement was obvious- immediately. Bought three of them. Needed another one and I decided to try the twice as expensive XL cable. Improvement was much greater this time and definitely worth the extra price. So, had to upgrade all to the XL. Perhaps this says that spending more always results in a better outcome and I’m foolish spending money on these mere $180 cables. I can’t spend multiple thousands of dollars on a cable. I’ve got to draw the line somewhere. The Pangea XL cables make a obvious difference in my system with most of the components I’ve tried it with and it’s at a price point that I don’t have to go to great lengths to hide the invoice from my wife. I think that’s a win win.

Baby steps my friend. Baby steps count, but it is the big boy steps later in life that make the biggest difference.
The first ā€œexpensiveā€ power cables I bought made me wince. Eight Hundred and Fifty Dollars for ONE Power Cable??? Oh how I protested. Until they arrived, (3 of them), were installed, and listened to. One of the last power cables I bought cost sixteen times as much. It made an noticeable effect as well.

For early builds, or limited budgets, you gotta do what you gotta do. Pangea cables don’t cost much, and that is how a lot of people start. I get it. It’s just not the name you want to toss around.

Don’t wait for me to post ā€œI drank some excellent Mad Dog 20/20 today. It was refreshing!ā€

A little harsh/too much of a generality, but I think I get your point:

That said, the heavier-duty Pangea PCs are well built, consistent with accepted cable design principles (as far as I can tell) and fairly priced.

Well, I ordered the Master Edition from Summit HiFi. That was two weeks ago. In the meantime, my attic A/C unit broke which resulted in damage to our upstairs bathroom ceiling. $4K or so later, yesterday the A/C was fixed and I’m thinking ā€˜thank goodness I bought the A6 ME before this’…had that A/C gone a day earlier…my A6 would be in the future. Anyway, back to the point, I had to travel for most of the last two weeks and I left the A6 streaming through it’s DAC into my c47. Today I’m listening through XLR’s and I have to say ā€˜wow’. I do love this little unit. Anyone on the fence; buy it. The interface on my iphone is great, the sound is great and the value is terrific. Particularly impressed with bass and all that separation quiet backgrounds stuff. I’m not an audio reviewer but I do know what sounds great. This unit replaced my currently kaput Lumin D2 so when that comes back I’ll compare but for $1,200 it’s great. I will likely eventually put it in my living room system (which isn’t our reference) but the more various tracks I hear (tidal master or whatever they have now) the more I just wonder if it’s even important to go beyond (well, don’t answer, of course it is). But bottom line; when I took it out of the box it did not impress. Now after the burn-in (I don’t know like 300 hours so far) and on the slow Slow Roll-Off (Linear) DAC filter it is excellent. That’s it. Just a big thumbs up if you’re considering the master edition.

Al: I can usually appreciate and follow your witty repartee.

But in this case:
