Oh yippee.

Nicely packed, easy setup, plugged a 5TB external drive in, saw it, added it to library, started playing. Five minutes tops, no manual reading needed. Nice.

Now I just have to plug it into something to listen.

Nice build, excellent app for my Android Phone. IPad next. Moohahaha!

It’s my new favorite thing of all time.

Too bad it doesn’t have tubes

Awesome Al. Did you plug the drive into the usb (otg) port or the small usb -c input?

Purchased with money not spent on tubes.

You just turn it on and say…"Stream along now poppet!'. And it’s done well so far just streaming along. 7 and change rounded up to 8 lb. Nice size and weight so when it blows there’s just less to blow! It comes with a USB cable but no red, white and cosmonaut grey RCA cables though…

The USB C port is an audio out device. Plugged into the OTG port, works fine. Added many, many, many songs to library.

The music player interface that comes with it seems nice. It took me a few tries to get it to be a Roon endpoint. That is working swell now. DSD512 capable, fun.

The 1.46 update that, among other things allows a 4TB M2 drive to be installed is currently available for download. It will be pushed out over the Internet next week. I downloaded the file, you don’t have to unzip it. Just put it on a USB thumb drive and jam it into the OTG port. The update went well after that.

They do some thing a little bit differently than what I am used to. But overall I am very impressed! Qobuz and Tidal just required a login for each.

One of the things I like about this device is Roon is an option, not a requirement. At my lake home I don’t Roon. I could, and I may, but for now I think using it’s player could work well. I really like the app on my phone for working with it. Yeth.

I bought this thing just for fun. If you were thinking of buying one for serious purposes maybe the upgrade model makes sense. It’s like $300 more. And AliExpress works really well for me. No issues. Like Amazon, but a full week shipping time. No charge for shipping. They use DHL though. They seem okay.

BUY BUY BUY BUY!!!

I don’t want to know how many gigabytes an album is in DSD512. (I know DSD256 can be 6gb)

Thanks for your review and recommendation. I hope you don’t mind a few questions.
Which Alixpress store did you order from?
It looks as if the only store with stock is HIENDCHINA store.
You mentioned earlier that you were charged local sales tax. Did Aliexpress charge that or DHL on arrival?
Thanks

AliExpress collects and pays State and Local sales tax to the delivery location just like Amazon.

I ordered mine from the Zidoo official store. Tax was paid when I ordered it. As in AliExpress charged it.

And Zidoo says it is currently not available. Its a pretty popular item I guess.

Al

Did they use DHL or FedEx?

They use DHL.

That’s what I figured as that’s pretty standard from them, Vinshine and the rest of the Far East companies. I ordered a Masters Edition to play with with mid-June delivery. You got lucky and ordered straight from the Manufacturer.

So I would use this to replace my jriver + fidelizer on my laptop.

Just wonder if the sound quality would be noticeably better??

I don’t know if I got lucky, I did exactly what I wanted to do.

Okay, it’s in my main system right now. 15 cent power cable, Wireworld Silver 7 USB cable straight into the BACCH-SP. It sounds really nice. Really nice. I am using it as a Roon Endpoint at the moment. This thing offers a few million more features than the Air Lens. Hmmmmmm.
