Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition

Hey Timm, as you pointed out, the drives are connected to a Powered USB Hub. Such a powered hub generally doesn’t draw high current from the USB port. It is a good one.

Cheers,
Alvin

Good to see you here Alvin.

I like to wait a few months before I open something up, if it’s new and under warranty.
Luckily much of mine is second hand / “vintage” so I am unrestricted and can investigate and fiddle whenever I want

Naturally champagne is top tier…

Alvin knows power supplies (and other tech stuff) and he’s rising on the charts for his informative and helpful videos!

Piece of cake! I think even I could do this mod.

The Teddy Pardo version loses the power switch in the back. Boo!!!

Appropriate. I have yet to buy a computer software controlled device that on some occasion the power switch will not reboot it nor does the gui But pulling power plug never fails. Happened last night with my bacch4mac even keyboard command-option escape would not kill it.

I can’t believe you picked up a Pardo and a short day or hours later Alvin hits with the new LHY internal. I bet there’s a good chance you maybe have an in with Chee will be accommodated before the first batch comes out. Pardo makes good a good shirt tho!!

Yeah, I could probably cancel the TP supply but I personally believe getting the power supplies out of the A6 may offer benefits. Plus I believe the TP will offer way more juice than the internal.

If Alvin prices his new supply right I will probably try both. $505 for the Teddy Pardo. Alvin will probably charge around $300 for his.

If I go completely bonkers I could also see buying the Master Edition A6 and using whichever supply I like best with it. But this is very unlikely as the stock A6 is quite wonderful in my lake home system as is. It is hooked up to an Onkyo Reciever that cost less than the A6. Not Audiophile territory, but wonderful for the space. I have three systems at the cabin and my wife says no way to filling the place with gear.

Does the Pardo have its own power switch or would you just unplug it to completely power off the A6?

I’ll see after I install it. I just have a feeling the audible upgrade won’t be completely dramatic. I think as it is out of the box and running as a transport only it’s a real pleaser. I only stream for testing to see how I like stuff before I buy the album or CD. I don’t do SACD or superfiles. Just Redbookers and albums. I love killer cheap stuff partly because I think it’s more fun and impressive than the marriage destroying category, I’ve bought plenty of that too. Chee was so excited during his latest install video he was just about to blow a trinket!

I assume it has its own power switch. But that means I can’t stuff the power supply out of reach and out of sight as I like to do. But I remove power from all my gear with a wall switch when I am not there. That could be enough for me.

I like that Alvin’s design retains the switch.

I pretty much have mine on all the time anyway. For the A6 I just didn’t want to place another box around unless I had to. I’d guess Alvin and Co. probably may know the Eversolo people.

It’s just low enough cost fun to me. The A6 is perfect for what you and I use it for. I have way more expensive hard core gear sitting in boxes. The simplicity and small size appeals to me. Had I waited 24 hours I most likely would have bought Alvins.

I bought an SBooster for my original streamer, the Node 2i and a PD Creative internal PS board from another nice small company from Poland, BLUESOUND NODE 2/2i – LPSU INTERFACE V2 – PD Creative It really sounded great but the Eversolo sounded enough better that I changed it. The SBooster was pretty expensive but it came with the shortest cable to hook to the Node 2i, but hey it also came with the mystery cable cleaning box attached. The Booster hooked to the Nodet looked like a WWI British Dreadnought tugging an 8’ Lund.

This may have been covered, but there’s a bazillion threads now… How is the DAC in this? Say compared to a PSA SGCD (currently running) or a Denafgrips Ares or Pontus?

I have two Sboosters, both with the upgrade thingy added. One in use powering a Matrix, one in it’s box on the shelf.

I think the DAC in the A6 might surprise you. I have DACs that cost nearly $40k and I was impressed with the DAC in the A6. Does it equal my expensive DACs? Of course not.
But it is quite enjoyable to listen to as it is.

I’ve forgotten which but I did see a review somewhere that compared it performance wise to the Denafrips Ares
