Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition

Did you change any of the playback settings in the initial setup? The EOS setting needs to be turned on or you will be caught by the native Android sampling rate limit. Also like with the DS DACs doing a restart after an update is a good thing.

I am hoping for the fix to be something this simple, but the A8 rebooted 3 times with the updating. Then today I powered down the switch in back just to be sure, waited, then back on again. Still does not play dsd.

I then checked settings, and eos is on.

To make sure it’s not the settings, I suggest you reset the machine (factory reset). If it still doesn’t work, something probably went wrong during the update. The update procedure you adopted is unique.

Have had the machine for 48 hours, dsd files have never played properly. It is not supposed to be this complicated. It should be a “plug a flash drive into the usb slot and it plays” type of thing, the way my (cough) Panasonic works, and the way the previously temporarily borrowed A6 worked.

Sounds like a turd to me.

it’s really not

I think he is referring to a possibly defective unit

ahhh haha gotcha

If doing a factory reset doesn’t clear things up I would reach out to the dealer for a replacement. It’s not the update if it was not working with the factory installed version.

I have been in communication with them, and just sent them a video of the machine playing a flac file but not playing any of multiple dsd files. They seem baffled that it does not work. Now they have video proof the unit is defective. I would like a replacement unit, as I am looking to improve the sound quality of my system.

So factory reset didn’t do anything it seems.

I don’t understand your fascination with a factory reset.
His unit did not play DSD files fresh from the factory.
His unit did not play DSD files after upgrading to the latest software.

What would you think a factory reset at this point would accomplish?

(The correct answer is “I don’t know”)

The problem is obviously the mouse cable. Has he factory reset the mouse cable?
Wait, there is no mouse. Still…

So three and a half hours later that’s the best you have? It’s going to be suggested by the dealer so go ahead and do it and get it over with. He’s done it so now no more troubleshooting to do. Just like with every software related PSA product since I’ve been a member here their software installs and upgrades don’t always go as intended or expected. Can’t count the number of times members have been told to do factory resets to clear software issues on gear from PSA. If you follow the Zidoo forum which as an owner I do you would discover that most all of their new gimmick related firmware and software updates cause as many problems as they solve. The one released yesterday was the same way.

He did it dewd. He did it.
Your tech support help is less than useful.
Perhaps if you repeated yourself more or typed in all caps it might be more helpful

Correctamundo

On my A6 I had to go to settings under each output and choose
HDMI: DSD audio > Auto
SPDIF: DOP (DSD over PCM)
USB: DOP (DSD over PCM)
to get DSD to play.

For some reason Native DSD did not seem to work. Try checking the DSD audio setting under the the output you are using.

I had to do the same but I have external MKII DAC. I read this as he is using internal DAC. That should just work.

Am using the internal DAC with the XLR output

It’s official, the A8 is on its way back to seller.
I have been in communication with the Manufacturer, and while they could not fix the issue, they have been wonderful to work with, and very good at communicating.
I may try another A8 in the near future, thinking I just happened to get a defective unit.

Unfortunate, but it happens with products from all manufacturers.

Great to hear you are being treated well.
