Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition

I think we all listen for differe t things, focusing on what we find important and often missing other aspects.

I have had a few things (beyond something so obvious as speakers or a really significant component upgrade) make a noticeable difference… first three had to do with clarity and detail, etc…

  • First time I incorporated HQPlayer into the chain

  • Swapping the Raspberry Pi streamer for the Eversolo

  • Pontus II firmware update

  • Belden 1313 speaker cable (upgraded from some just-above-lampcord-quality AudioQuest cable. X2 maybe?). Distinctly remember a wider soundstage. Possible? Ahdunno, but i heard it.

Maybe a few other things, but those I recall were noticeable.

Not sure I’ve ever heard sonic improvement with upgraded power supplies. They just make me feel a little better.

My feelings exactly.

I think I am glad that a bunch of extra boxes externally powering my other boxes didn’t make any noticeable difference to me.

They are cool as you say and make you feel better but any difference in playback SQ was so non-existent that when we made our recent move to a different house all of the LPS units are still in storage and I dont feel any reason to break them out.

My impressions are in my video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dG_O5Z0RFqI

Because I hear an improvement (I got 5 goosebump events in songs that were not my top 10 favorites) In my setup with the LPS, I’m going to look into more ways to reduce noise.

In addition to an LPS, I noticed that the highend $5200 Hifi Rose RS130 also comes with builtin galvanic isolation for the ethernet RJ45 jack.

So I’m thinking of purchasing these external products that do the same for the Eversolo DMP-A6: iFi LAN iSilencer, muon pro Streaming System, eno Ethernet Filter

The MUON Pro System should be mandatory. It is extremely effective. It frightened me at first but you get used to it.

The DMP-A6 has finally been added to the Harmony Hub library. Yay!
Which means it can be utilized in Home Assistant. YAY!

Uh-oh, this means the A6 goes to the shop, the A6 Master goes into the bedroom, which means a new A8 for the soundroom.
Home automation IS expensive.
So is justification.

Recently I experienced a problem with the Eversolo app using both the iPad and android apps. The artist favorites list is the only favorites showing up. Track and album favorites are missing. I uninstalled and reinstalled the iPad app but didn’t help.

Is this the ā€œfavoritesā€ view you’re talking about?

Have you looked at the unit itself, and does it show a different view (or values) than your app?

Wouldn’t you know, when I opened up the Eversolo yesterday everything was back to normal again. I’m sure the problem will return as it’s gone back and forth several times already. I will get back to you with more details on its behavior then. One thing I did notice though was that album art was missing and playback time was frozen as well.

I’ve gotta say, my Eversolo Master Edition makes a perfect partner feeding my new DSD MKll. As they say, they make beautiful music together.

So did anyone get the DMP A8 and how does it’s internal DAC sound?

I saw one for sale already on usaudiomart.

That was quick

Well it has the better dual power supplies along with the upgraded clocks so an improvement hardware wise right from the start. As to sound based on what I’ve read the general voicing difference between AKM and ESS applies so it’s personal preference. Still at it’s price and with the quality of the app a bargain compared to the competition.

You’ve got guys on the Zidoo forum and Head-Fi that bought all three thinking they would here some profound difference using them to stream to external DAC’s. When they didn’t they kept the cheapest one. If you are intent on using it completely as a combination unit the A-8 to me would be the obvious choice or even if you just wanted a streamer with the I2S output.

Hey, anyone using the DMP-A6 who has Roon, but is using the DMP-A6 in some other location (cabin, office, etc…)?

I figured out how to install Roon ARC on the DMP-A6 (it’s essentially an android device), but I wasn’t able to log in to my roon account. I’m guessing it’s because my DMP-A6 is on the same network as Roon.

But if your Eversolo is somewhere else, I wonder if the ARC app will work…

For those interested, I downloaded the ARC Android Apk from here (you might also be able to do it from the google play store):

and then I installed it to the eversolo via the web interface:

Enter the IP Address of your eversolo into a web browser and add :18888 to the end…

so for me it’s

http://192.168.4.217:18888/ (yours will most likely be different)

You’ll get a window that prompts you to browse for the apk file you downloaded.

Select it and it will upload to the DMP-A6.

I’ve done this with Pandora and SiriusXM apps and it’s super slick.

Anyway, curious if it’ll work.

I can’t use Roon Remote on my system for whatever reason. I just used my A6 as a Roon Endpoint and it seemed nice.

I am guessing he has the A6 in a diff. location than the core. Like a phone. I am not an android person…so no help here.

Learned a trick to get the Eversolo DMP-A8 to update to the latest version:

  1. turned off the A8 from the back power switch and unplugged for good luck.
  2. Waited several minutes, plugged the A8 back into the P12, powered on, and the A8 wanted to update from v1.2.60 to v1.2.80.
  3. I thought this has to be it, for sure this would solve the issue.
  4. My A8 plays flac files (same as before), but still does not play dsd files.
